"Home about Us" Episode 13 Recap & Spoilers

Alright, first up, we catch Ye Lang and Cheng Xu basically dissecting Li Lefan's new engagement ring. Xia Wanqing wanders over, takes one look, and immediately declares it's silver. She doesn't hold back, muttering about how cheap that is – like, okay, maybe not a diamond, but couldn't it at least be gold? Perfect timing, Li Lefan walks out of the restroom right then. Xia Wanqing, smooth as ever, instantly switches gears, gushing about the ring's "unique design" and cheerfully saying she's looking forward to the wedding candy. You gotta love her quick pivots!

Meanwhile, Cheng Xu meets up with Ma Xintian. She instantly assumes he's trying to set her up on another blind date and tries to shut it down gently. She confesses she's just not ready to date anyone new while she's still hung up on Jiang Qiao – she feels like she'd just see his face everywhere. Cheng Xu tries to encourage her, suggesting she shouldn't give up so easily. He points out that she relies heavily on her dog, Bawan, maybe because she feels Bawan won't ever leave her, but reminds her that people can offer that same kind of loyalty and commitment, too.

Then, Cheng Xu takes Ma Xintian to the library, and guess who's there? Jiang Qiao, totally buried in books. Cheng Xu quietly tells Ma Xintian that Jiang Qiao never really got over their relationship and has been spending all his time researching ways to cure allergies (you know, for his mom). Apparently, even knowing Ma Xintian was going on dates, Jiang Qiao told Cheng Xu he wouldn't give up as long as she was still single.

Hearing this hits Ma Xintian right in the feels – she's deeply touched. Later, with Feng Qingming and Cheng Xu acting as moral support, Ma Xintian goes to meet Jiang Qiao and his mother. Jiang Qiao's mom sincerely apologizes for previously telling Ma Xintian she should give up Bawan. Feng Qingming adds the exciting news: Jiang Qiao found a specialist at the Ningzhou University Affiliated Hospital! Starting the very next day, his mom will begin systematic desensitization therapy, hoping to finally overcome her severe dog allergy.

But wait, there's more! Jiang Qiao pulls Ma Xintian aside into an empty room. He explains, with hopeful eyes, that his mom rented it specifically for her. It can be her own workspace, a place she can bring Bawan during the day, and since it's in the same complex, she can just head home at night. "Do you like it?" he asks. Tears streaming, Ma Xintian throws her arms around him, thanking both him and his mom profusely. Aww, looks like there's hope for these two yet!

Back at the Sidini office, there's some lighthearted banter. Ye Lang jokingly awards Cheng Xu "Employee of the Month." Even though it's a gag, Cheng Xu admits this whole "helping people find love" gig feels really meaningful. The crew immediately demands Cheng Xu treat them to celebrate. He tries to pass the buck, saying Lin Kexin and Guo Mingshan are getting serious, so Ye Lang should pay. Ye Lang shoots back that Li Lefan (the engaged one) should treat. Right then, Qin Tianyue walks in and generously offers to foot the bill. She is, however, genuinely surprised to hear Lin Kexin is actually dating Guo Mingshan, remarking that he doesn't seem like Lin Kexin's usual type.

Now, for some family drama. Li Lefan's parents arrive in Ningzhou and check into a hotel. Mom isn't pleased, complaining that Li Lefan rented an apartment but is crashing at the office. The inevitable meeting between Li Lefan's parents and Sheng Kuang's parents happens. It starts off okay, but things go south fast when they discuss putting Li Lefan's name on the apartment deed. Sheng Kuang's parents are dead set against it. Li Lefan's mom is furious, saying she came prepared to contribute significantly to the down payment and expected a 50/50 split with both names on the property title. Sheng Kuang's mom won't budge – only her son's name. Pushed over the edge, Li Lefan's mom angrily demands a 200,000 RMB betrothal gift ("cai li"). Oof. Trouble in paradise already?

On another front, Lin Kexin has a medical scare while driving – intense stomach pain. Guo Mingshan rushes to her side. It turns out to be acute appendicitis, requiring emergency surgery. Guo Mingshan really steps up, staying by her side constantly and taking great care of her during recovery. Lin Kexin is visibly moved by his dedication.

Finally, poor Xia Wanqing is feeling a bit down seeing everyone else making strides. A new potential client, Wang Da'an, registers, and she sees an opportunity. But this guy is extremely superstitious, with super strict requirements about zodiac signs, birth times, the works. Amazingly, Xia Wanqing finds a woman who meets his criteria, and they actually seem to hit it off! But then... Wang Da'an consults his "master," who tells him the woman's hometown (in Northeast China) has "yin" energy that will clash horribly with his. Wang Da'an completely freaks out and literally runs away. You just can't make this stuff up! Xia Wanqing just can't catch a break.
