Deep Affection Eyes: Episode 6 Spoilers
While Ye Meng confides in Fang Ya'en, admitting a rare lack of confidence in her budding relationship with Li Jinyu, Li Jinyu is having a heart-to-heart of his own. He visits his Grandma Dou at the hospital, telling her he wants to give things a real try with Ye Meng, much to his grandmother's delight.
Later, Li Jinyu shows up at Ye Meng's house under the pretense of fixing a water pipe, only to find she's already had it repaired. She invites him to help with her yard instead. Their playful time is interrupted by the arrival of Ye Meng's luggage from Jiangbei. Her boss, Gou Kai, has sneakily included a camera as a birthday gift, along with old photos of the two of them together, making Li Jinyu visibly jealous.
The two head to a flower market to buy sunflowers, but the outing takes a dramatic turn. Ye Meng spots a heavyset man wearing a thumb ring identical to a lost heirloom of her mother's. She frantically tries to follow his car but loses him at an intersection. Devastated, she returns home and stares at a photo of her mother, recalling that her mother had met with a man alone just before her suicide.
A call from Fang Ya'en provides a lead: the man's car has been seen at the X-Space Nightclub. Ye Meng goes alone, pretending to be an escort to get close to the man. Unbeknownst to her, Li Jinyu has followed. After discovering the car has a fake license plate, he bursts into the room, playing the part of a "jealous husband" to create a diversion. They improvise a scene to escape, but the man sees through their act and has his men surround them.
Hiding in a corner, Ye Meng feels a small thrill seeing how jealous Li Jinyu is. As they try to leave, their path is blocked. Li Jinyu shields Ye Meng, taking on several men at once and getting injured in the process. Fortunately, Cheng Kairan arrives with the police just in time to break up the fight. At the police station, an Officer Chen tells them the man is indeed suspicious, but claims he bought the ring legally from a seller with the surname Wang.
After leaving the station, the trio goes for a late-night meal. Cheng Kairan, seeing the intimacy between Ye Meng and Li Jinyu, grows intensely jealous. He pulls out an old school ID card with Ye Meng's name on it, which he has treasured for years, declaring that she once saved his life. It's then that Ye Meng realizes the source of his years-long devotion is a case of mistaken identity. She clarifies that the person who saved him from bullies was actually Fang Ya'en. Because of that incident, the bully's mother came to their school and caused a huge scene, which ultimately forced Fang Ya'en to drop out and leave Ningsui to find work.
The truth leaves Cheng Kairan reeling. He realizes the person he truly cared for all this time was Fang Ya'en. He goes to her apartment building but, watching her through the window, can't find the courage to go up.
Sensing Ye Meng's low spirits, Li Jinyu offers her a piece of candy. She opens up about her mother, who left her a savings passbook filled with money she had saved for her, making her suicide even more incomprehensible. Li Jinyu suggests that the appearance of the thumb ring is a breakthrough, and by following that lead, they might uncover more clues. His words lift her spirits, and she gently tends to his wounds, asking if he was jealous earlier. He admits he was, worried she might get back together with Gou Kai. Ye Meng reassures him, telling him not to underestimate her, or her feelings for him. After they say goodnight, Li Jinyu is left with a rare, genuine smile on his face.

As Cheng Kairan grapples with this truth, Ye Meng and Li Jinyu grow closer, deciding to investigate the mystery of her mother's past together.
