Deng Yan's story begins when she finds herself caught up in the rescue of a trafficked girl. While her intentions are good, her actions inadvertently disrupt a major, carefully planned operation by the anti-trafficking office.
In an unexpected turn of events, Deng Yan is subsequently appointed as the new director of that very office. Her sudden promotion does not sit well with Chang Rui, a former undercover narcotics officer on the team. He harbors resentment toward Deng Yan, viewing her as an inexperienced leader who was simply "parachuted in" to the high-stakes position.
