Episode Summary
Ye Qi invites Zuo Qian Dai to the mall for inspiration, leading to an awkward moment with a sailor suit he tries on. Meanwhile, the basketball team struggles due to Zhou Jie Yue's absence, prompting Jiang Ruo Song to talk to her, which results in misunderstandings and a new nickname for him. Ye Qi and Zuo Qian Dai's outing continues to a figurine shop where Zuo Qian Dai learns Ye Qi played a dating sim all night for date ideas. Jiang Ruo Song's attempt to discuss basketball with Zhou Jie Yue on the rooftop is mistaken for a love confession, and he internally compares her unfavorably to Luo Lei Lai. Ye Qi later "de-stresses" by winning a math quiz against kids. Chai Zi Yu connects with a comic author online. Ye Qi sketches comics, which Zuo Qian Dai misinterprets as a confession before he's interrupted by a call from his editor about "Gong Shi Hei"; Zuo Qian Dai decides to accompany him. Later, Zuo Qian Dai complains to Zhou Jie Yue about Ye Qi, while Zhou Jie Yue admits to developing a protective feeling for Jiang Ruo Song, sending him a text that scares him.

First off, Zuo Qian Dai finally agreed to meet up with Ye Qi at the mall, though she made him wait a good long while. Classic power move, right? Ye Qi, ever the patient one, was all set to shower her with gifts. Zuo Qian Dai was totally vibing that this was Ye Qi's way of asking her out and was pretty stoked about it. But then, Ye Qi whips out an outfit choice that just about made her jaw drop – and not in a good way.
Meanwhile, over at the basketball court, things are looking grim. Because of Zhou Jie Yue, a bunch of the guys have bailed on playing, making it impossible to even get a game going. Since everyone saw Jiang Ruo Song and Zhou Jie Yue together before, they pretty much nominated him to go talk to her and sort things out. Zhou Jie Yue was a bit hesitant at first, but with everyone else pushing him, Jiang Ruo Song found a smidge of confidence and agreed to do it.
Back to our mall adventurers: that "surprise" outfit Ye Qi picked? A sailor suit. Yeah, Zuo Qian Dai was not having it and refused to try it on. So, what does Ye Qi do? He puts it on himself! Zuo Qian Dai, realizing he was doing all this for artistic inspiration, had to admire his dedication to becoming a professional comic artist. But when Ye Qi actually asked for her help while he was in full sailor regalia, she hilariously pretended she didn't know him. Smooth.
Still on their quest for inspiration, Ye Qi dragged Zuo Qian Dai to a figurine shop. And who should they bump into but Chai Zi Yu, also on the hunt for collectibles. Zuo Qian Dai then found out from Chai Zi Yu that Ye Qi had pulled an all-nighter playing a dating sim game just to come up with this whole outing idea. Learning how much effort Ye Qi was putting in definitely made Zuo Qian Dai feel a little giddy, and she found herself wondering what kind of figurine he'd pick and if she was on his mind.
Now, let's check back with Jiang Ruo Song. He was stressing hard about how to approach Zhou Jie Yue. His brilliant idea? Leaving her a note to meet on the rooftop. Naturally, all the other girls immediately thought it was a love letter. When they finally met, Jiang Ruo Song was a bundle of nerves but managed to bring up the basketball situation. However, his whole demeanor kind of gave Zhou Jie Yue the wrong idea. She even gave him the nickname "Xiao Song Song." Then, things took a turn when Jiang Ruo Song started reminiscing about Luo Lei Lai from the music club, going on about how Zhou Jie Yue couldn't compare and basically calling Luo Lei Lai his goddess. Ouch, dude.
Trying to de-stress, Ye Qi decided the perfect activity for him and Zuo Qian Dai was... a math quiz bowl against a bunch of elementary school kids. Since Ye Qi is a math major, the poor kids didn't stand a chance.
Elsewhere, Chai Zi Yu stumbled upon a really cool comic and managed to connect with the author online, even chatting them up like a seasoned pro.
Throughout their day together, Ye Qi, feeling inspired, managed to sketch out a few comic panels. When Zuo Qian Dai saw them, she immediately thought he was trying to confess his feelings through his art. She was blushing and just about to ask him straight up when – you guessed it – his phone rang, totally killing the moment. It was his editor, wanting to discuss something about "Gong Shi Hei." Zuo Qian Dai, wanting to impress Ye Qi (and probably be a little nosy), asked to tag along to the publishing house, and he agreed.
Later, while playing badminton, Zuo Qian Dai was venting to Zhou Jie Yue about Ye Qi, convinced he was pursuing her. Zhou Jie Yue then dished about her own Jiang Ruo Song situation. Apparently, Jiang Ruo Song's somewhat timid and vulnerable act actually sparked a protective instinct in Zhou Jie Yue. Plus, the gift he gave her was the first one she'd ever received from a guy. So, Zhou Jie Yue sent Jiang Ruo Song a text. When he read it, he was practically shaking in his boots. Then, he happened to run into Zhou Jie Yue at the gym, and the moment she saw him, she turned and bolted.
