The Journey of Legend: Episode 13 Recap

Alright, let's get into it. This episode was a lot. Xiao Qiushui is learning that being a hero is more trouble than it's worth. Especially when no one believes you.

Down in the Hole

The episode kicks off with the crew finding Du Yueshan. He's the head of the Mengxiang Sect. Or he was. Now he's been trapped in a cave for years. He's gone completely feral and is literally trying to eat people.

Tie Xingyue gets a little too close. Du Yueshan lunges. Then, in the chaos, Tang Fang gets tangled in some chains. She's dragged right up to the crazed man. It’s a bad scene. Xiao Qiushui has to jump in and use his sword to block Du Yueshan and save her.

An Escape Plan and a New Skill

Xiao Qiushui quickly figures out what's wrong. He thinks Du Yueshan was hit with the Power-wielding Gang's Bat Corpse Poison. It's nasty stuff. Tang Fang knows the only way to fix it is to drain his internal power. The four of them team up, hit his pressure points, and knock him out cold.

Their problems aren't over, though. Kang Chuyu's men light a fire at the cave entrance. They're trying to smoke them out. Xiao Qiushui carries the unconscious Du Yueshan towards a pool of water. He's betting on an underwater exit.

Du Yueshan wakes up. He explains that the snake Qu Hanshan tricked him and trapped him down here. He also recognizes Xiao Qiushui as the son of Xiao Xilou from the Huanhua clan. He warns him not to even think about escaping. Liu Suifeng has a blood feud with the Xiao family and will kill him on sight.

Qiushui isn't listening. He's finding a way out. Du Yueshan seems impressed by his stubbornness. He admits he knows a way. There's a crack in the rock at the bottom of the pool. It's too narrow to get through normally. Du Yueshan's special Mengxiang sword technique can part the water, but his power is gone. So, he decides to teach the whole technique to Xiao Qiushui right then and there.

The Villains Team Up

Speaking of villains, Liu Suifeng and Qu Hanshan have a little meeting. They're still after the Hero's Token. They're pretty sure it's hidden somewhere in the Xiao family home. Liu Suifeng's cover is blown. But Qu Hanshan can still play the part of a righteous hero.

Here's their plan. Qu Hanshan will pretend to help the Xiao family. This will get him inside their home so he can search for the token. He agrees to it. The prize is just too good to pass up.

No One Believes the Hero

Xiao Qiushui is a fast learner. He masters the water-slicing sword move and opens the underwater passage. They escape just as Xiao Yiren, from Qiushui's family, shows up at Qu Hanshan's door to beg for help.

The meeting is a disaster. Qu Hanshan plays the victim. He claims Xiao Qiushui ruined his good name by accusing him of being the Power-wielding Gang's Sword King.He then slams the door in Xiao Yiren's face. Xiao Yiren is baffled but refuses to believe his son would lie about something so serious.

Back at the family villa, things get even worse. Xiao Qiushui tries to explain the situation to his family. They don't believe him. Tang Fang backs him up. She tells them she personally saw Qu Hanshan murder Gu Junshan. They still think she and Qiushui are making it all up.

Then a challenge letter arrives. It's from Qu Hanshan. He's challenging the entire Xiao family to a duel to "clear his name." Xiao Qiushui insists it's just a trick to kill him. His family is now stuck between a rock and a hard place. Their solution? They ground Xiao Qiushui. He's locked in his room.

The Walls Close In

With the Xiao family officially on Qu Hanshan's bad side, all the other sects refuse to help them. The family is completely isolated.

Then, Weng Yueying shows up. She's another snake in the grass. She claims she just saw Gu Junshan, so he can't be dead. She's obviously lying. Another person, Nangong Xiaoyi, points out that Tie Xingyue and Qiu Nanshun used to want to join the Power-wielding Gang. The implication is that they are manipulating Xiao Qiushui.

Weng Yueying offers to talk to Qu Hanshan on the family's behalf. The Xiao family is grateful. After she leaves, Tang Fang manages to get a message to Xiao Qiushui. She overheard something. Qiushui finally puts it all together. Weng Yueying must be part of the Power-wielding Gang, too.

Stuck in his room, Qiushui has a moment of clarity. He realizes the only way to fix this mess is to get the official Sect Leader authority. With that power, he can expose Qu Hanshan and turn the tables.

The episode ends with Xiao Yiren going back to Qu Hanshan. Qu Hanshan, following Liu Suifeng's script, agrees to help. But there's a condition. Xiao Qiushui has to publicly apologize to him first.
