The Family Feud Gets Real

The Confrontation

So, Xiao Yiren goes to Zhu Datianwang's mansion. He's on a mission. He finds what he's looking for pretty quickly. Tucked away in a drawer is the "Thousand Faces" mask. Just as he finds it, his brother Xiao Kaiyan shows up.

The gig is up. Xiao Kaiyan doesn't even try to hide it anymore. Xiao Yiren is furious. He asks him how he could murder their own parents. Xiao Kaiyan, of course, has a story ready. He blames everything on Zhu Datianwang. It's convenient, since the guy is already dead and can't defend himself. Then he twists the knife. He tries to make Xiao Yiren hate Xiao Qiushui.

A Brother's Betrayal

Xiao Kaiyan plays the victim. He claims he was only trying to bring honor back to the Xiao family. Xiao Yiren just can't wrap his head around how his brothers have changed so much in a few months. To "prove" his loyalty, Xiao Kaiyan does something drastic. He stabs himself with his own sword. Xiao Yiren panics and pulls the blade out. When he gets home, he finds out the Xiao family has been named "Heroes of the Nation" by the emperor.

The Tournament for a Leader

The Duel of Brothers

A big announcement goes out. The major martial arts sects are holding a hero conference at Changbanpo. They need to pick a new leader for the martial world. Everyone knows what the emperor is up to. They want to team up to protect General Wu. They're also worried about Xiao Kaiyan, who is still pretending to be Zhu Datianwang. If he gets control, it could be a disaster for the Da Xi dynasty.

Sancai worries about Xiao Qiushui joining the fight. He still hasn't fully absorbed the powers he received from the eight masters. But Xiao Qiushui doesn't care. He says he'll risk death to expose Xiao Kaiyan's true face.

On the day of the tournament, Xiao Kaiyan makes his first move. He sends Xiao Yiren to fight first, right against Xiao Qiushui. Xiao Qiushui can't bring himself to seriously injure his brother. He hesitates and gets wounded.

Then, Xiao Kaiyan steps up. This fight is for real. Every move is meant to kill. Xiao Kaiyan finally gets close and stabs Xiao Qiushui in the heart. But at that exact moment, Xiao Qiushui yanks the "Thousand Faces" mask off Xiao Kaiyan's face.

The truth is out. Xiao Yiren isn't being fooled anymore. He rushes forward and stabs Xiao Kaiyan. Xiao Kaiyan hits Xiao Yiren with a powerful palm strike and then escapes with his followers.

Xiao Yiren's injuries are fatal. His meridians are destroyed. Xiao Qiushui wants to use his power to heal him, but his brother tells him not to waste his energy. He only asks to be buried outside the Huanhua sect. Xiao Qiushui asks his friends in the Shenzhou Alliance to handle the burial. He has to get to Changbanpo for the election.

A New Challenger Appears

At Changbanpo, a strange fighter named Ji Wupeng shows up and starts challenging everyone. Xiao Qiushui and an elder from the Beggars' Sect step onto the stage to face him. Before they can even start, another figure appears.

It's Yan Kuangtu. Some of the older fighters recognize him. It's been twenty years, but he hasn't aged. In fact, he looks younger and more powerful than ever.

The Madman and the Hero

Yan Kuangtu stands in the center of the stage. He declares that the Hero's Token belongs to him. Xiao Qiushui immediately speaks up against him. He says the leader should be a virtuous person, not a madman.

Yan Kuangtu is impressed. He likes that Xiao Qiushui isn't afraid to speak his mind. He sees a bit of his younger self in him. He offers to make Xiao Qiushui his disciple, but there's a catch. Xiao Qiushui has to kneel.

Xiao Qiushui refuses. He says his knees are only for his parents. This just makes Yan Kuangtu more interested. He decides he'll use force to make Xiao Qiushui kneel.

They fight. It's an intense battle. Yan Kuangtu forces Xiao Qiushui to his knees, but Xiao Qiushui uses every ounce of his inner strength to stand back up. Yan Kuangtu seems to admire his stubbornness. He hits Xiao Qiushui with a special palm strike, the Xuan Tian Wu Jin Palm.

After the strike, they separate. Zhao Shirong and several monks surround Yan Kuangtu, but he escapes them easily. Xiao Qiushui tells them not to follow. He explains that if Yan Kuangtu had actually wanted to kill them, no one there could have stopped him.The palm strike was his way of letting Xiao Qiushui live.

With the drama over, everyone agrees Xiao Qiushui should be the new leader. But just as they're about to give him the Hero's Token, Yan Kuangtu reappears, snatches it, and vanishes again.
