A Risky Battle Plan

He hangs around and overhears Li Shuang's battle plan. He basically decides it's terrible. So, he storms into the tent and lays out his own strategy. Ji Ran is immediately suspicious and doesn't want this random kid involved. But Li Shuang has a gut feeling. She tells Ji Ran to stand down and follow Jin An's plan.
Questions and Suspicions
A Victory and a Test
Surprise, surprise, Jin An's plan actually works. The Yao Army is forced to retreat. This is a huge relief for a weaselly official named Li Zhangyi, who was literally packing his bags to run away.
Li Shuang gives Jin An full credit for the win. He gets all nervous, thinking she's finally going to ask about who he is and where he came from. She doesn't. She figures he'll tell her when he's ready. He admits he has no idea how he knows so much about military tactics.
Before sending him back to the safety of the General's Mansion, Li Shuang has one more thing to check. She makes him change his clothes right in front of her. She's looking for that chest wound. But there's no scar. Nothing. Now she's totally confused. Was she wrong about him the whole time?
Ji Ran Makes a Move
On top of everything, Li Shuang keeps getting dizzy spells. She says it's been happening for a while and has nothing to do with Jin An.
While taking Jin An back to the mansion, Ji Ran finally confronts him. He asks him who he really is. He even brings up that there was another kid in the army named Jin An. He wants to know if they're the same person. Ji Ran gets aggressive, but Jin An has no fighting skills. During the confrontation, Jin An accidentally falls off a cliff.
Ji Ran goes back to Li Shuang with a piece of Jin An's belt. He tells her Jin An is dead. He adds that Jin An refused to talk, which proves he was a spy. Li Shuang is enraged. She orders Ji Ran to be thrown in jail as soon as they get back to the city. Then she sends out a search party. She makes it clear she wants Jin An found, dead or alive.
The Spy in the City
A Fire and a Frame-Up
Meanwhile, that slimy official Li Zhangyi is celebrating at a song and dance hall. A spy named Yun Ge is also there. She steps in to help another dancer, Yan Zhi. Yun Ge then manages to steal Li Zhangyi's official token.
She uses the token to get into the city's granary and sets it on fire. To cover her tracks, she leaves behind a signal flare from the Yao Kingdom, framing them for the attack. Li Shuang sees the signal and orders her soldiers to find the woman responsible.
A Desperate Cover-Up
Li Zhangyi starts to panic. He knows if Li Shuang captures Yun Ge, his entire career is over. He decides the only solution is to make sure Li Shuang dies. His plan is to let the Yao Army kill her during their next attack.
But Jin An isn't dead. His strange powers saved him from the fall. He makes his way back to the General's Mansion and overhears the order to capture Yun Ge. Worried about Li Shuang's safety, he goes to the dance hall himself. He's too late. Li Zhangyi has already had everyone there killed to silence them. A dying Yan Zhi tells Jin An that Li Zhangyi was behind it and gives him a location: the City God Temple.
The Siege at the Gate
Li Shuang arrives with her army, but Li Zhangyi blocks the city gate. He refuses to let them in. Just then, Jin An appears on the city wall. He used his enhanced senses to find and capture Yun Ge. Li Shuang's face lights up when she sees he's alive.
Jin An threatens Li Zhangyi. He tells him to open the gates, or his spy accomplice gets exposed. As if on cue, the Yao Army launches a surprise attack.
Li Shuang refuses to retreat into the city. She won't put the citizens in danger. It's a trap. At that moment, Jin An feels his powers surge. He puts on his mask and jumps into the fight. He and Li Shuang fight side-by-side. Together, they take down the enemy commander, Shi Du, ending the battle.
Li Shuang confronts the masked man. She asks why he keeps saving her but won't show his face. He simply says that whatever she wants to do, he will help her do it. That's all she needs to hear. She knows it's Jin An.
