Episode Summary
In this episode, Su Muyang reveals his entire plan, resulting in the Emperor's death and his own ascension to the throne. While Jin An struggles with the Jade Exquisite and his memories, a newly awakened Li Shuang is ordered back to the capital. Lu Xin goes to Wuling Mountain in her place, using a shocking lie to get past the guards and stay by Mo Yin's side.

Su Muyang's Final Move
Su Muyang has been busy. He secretly bought the loyalty of everyone who used to work for the old Crown Prince. Now, he basically controls the entire palace.
The episode opens on the day of Su Muli's funeral. Su Muyang is looking pretty pleased with himself. He told the world that Xuan Yi Ke killed his brother. The Emperor doesn't believe that story for a second, though.
Later, Su Muyang brings the Emperor his medicine. As he hands it over, the Emperor sees something shocking. Su Muyang's right hand is completely healed. That's when the Emperor knows for sure. Su Muyang was involved in Su Muli's death.
A Father's Betrayal
The realization hits the Emperor hard. Su Muyang sees the look on his face and finally loses it. All those years he spent suffering and being careful meant nothing. His father only ever cared about Su Muli.
Su Muyang lays it all out. His mother had a low rank and no power. He had to walk on eggshells his whole childhood. Then one day, the Emperor summoned him and made him Crown Prince. Su Muyang was so happy. He thought his father finally wanted to make up for all the lost years. He remembers falling into the water once. The Emperor stayed by his side, acting like a worried father.
But now, Su Muyang understands the truth. The Emperor wasn't afraid of losing his son. He was afraid of losing the person meant to take on his fated calamity. He was just a shield.
The Real Poison
Suddenly, the Emperor grabs his stomach in agony. He coughs up a mouthful of blood and dies.
Just before the end, Su Muyang leans in and tells him the final, brutal truth. Su Muli had been poisoning his medicine every single day.
With the Emperor gone, Su Muyang officially takes the throne.
Jin An's Struggle
Trapped by the Jade
The others are still trying to get the Jade Exquisite out of Jin An. It's not working. Jin An is getting seriously depressed about it.
Mo Yin gives him a hairpin he found near the quicksand. He thinks Li Shuang might have left it for Jin An as a final memento. He hopes it will give Jin An a reason to keep living.
A Prison of Memories
To keep from losing control again, Jin An locks himself away. He doesn't want to hurt anyone.
Mo Yin warned him that removing the Jade Exquisite would make him forget Li Shuang. So, Jin An starts carving his memories of her onto the walls of his room. It's his only way to hold onto her.
Li Shuang Wakes Up
A Royal Summons
Li Shuang finally wakes up from her coma. The very first thing she wants to do is find Jin An.
Her plans get interrupted. Huai En arrives with a decree from the new Emperor, Su Muyang. As soon as she is healthy, she is to be sent back to the capital. Li Shuang is stunned and says she can't go back. Huai En makes it clear she doesn't have a choice.
Lu Xin's Crazy Plan
Lu Xin sees how worried Li Shuang is about Jin An. She decides to go to Wuling Mountain in her place. Li Shuang reluctantly agrees. She gives Lu Xin a weapon for protection and plans to follow as soon as she can.

The Ultimate Excuse
Mo Yin is still trying to figure out why he can't remove the jade. His work is interrupted by Lu Xin's arrival.
She gets to Wuling Mountain but is stopped by guards. So, she tells a wild story. She claims she's pregnant with Mo Yin's child from their time in Lu City. As proof, she shows them his Clear Moon Pearl. It works. The guards let her in.
Double Trouble
Lu Xin finds Mo Yin and immediately accuses him of being a hypocrite. He insists she has to leave for her own safety. She refuses.
She then threatens him with the weapon Li Shuang gave her. She knows he won't stand by and watch her get hurt. Then she takes her lie even further. She's not just pregnant. She's having twins. She tells him if he wants her to stay quiet, he has to let her stay and watch him treat Jin An.
A Messy Love Story
Jin Wujian and the Empress Dowager
Jin Wujian goes to the Empress Dowager to ask for some medicine. For some reason, this sends her into a rage. She actually tries to strangle him.
He finally fights back. He's been completely devoted to her for years, and she still won't even look at him. He can't bring himself to actually hurt his beloved, though. As he leaves, he makes a promise. He will bring her Duan Aodeng's head.
