Spoiler Alert

The episode opens with the enigmatic Night Devil coolly instructing his subordinate to continue leaking clues, ensuring that detective Xiao Beiming gets closer to the hidden truth. Meanwhile, Xiao Beiming and Zhong Xueman are at the Huo residence questioning Huo Dairong when they are interrupted by the sound of Aunt Feng's persistent coughing, prompting them to check on her.

Elsewhere, Zhuge Kongyun learns from Li Xiao that Zhong Xueman is at the Huo residence and decides to go find her. However, Feng Qingzhuo, fearing that Zhuge will recognize Xiao Beiming and expose his fugitive status, desperately tries to stall him. Feng's plan succeeds when a medicine he prepared causes Zhuge to suffer a sudden, debilitating stomachache, preventing him from leaving.

As Xiao Beiming attempts to slip out through the back gate of the Huo residence, he is surprised to find Huo Dairong waiting for him. She stuns him further by revealing that she knows his true identity. She confesses to secretly admiring him and has even visited the Divine Capture Camp just to see him. Huo Dairong firmly believes he is not the Night Devil, citing Zhong Xueman's unwavering loyalty as proof. She does, however, question why a wanted man is so invested in her father's death. Just as they are talking, someone approaches, and she quickly helps him make his escape.

Huo Dairong cleverly disguises Xiao Beiming as an elderly swill collector, allowing him to leave the mansion undetected. The act, however, sparks a hint of jealousy in Zhong Xueman. Later, Xiao Beiming reflects on his conversation with Huo Dairong. She had mentioned that her father, General Huo, became a violent and changed man after bringing Mrs. Huo into their home, even beating her own mother. Her shrewdness leaves both Xiao Beiming and Zhong Xueman feeling uneasy, and they agree to be wary of her.

That evening, the pair spot a suspicious Xue Qianshan entering a courtyard, which they discover is a secret gambling den. They watch as Xue Qianshan secretly receives 500 taels of silver from Li Xiao in exchange for an unknown item. Later, Zhong Xueman, now accompanied by Zhuge Kongyun who happened to run into her, follows Xue Qianshan to a rouge shop. They witness him buy an expensive rouge before leaving in a hurry. The scent of the rouge is familiar, seemingly matching a fragrance from someone at the Huo residence. They rush to confront Huo Dairong, who denies having a relationship with Xue Qianshan but admits he is pursuing her. She offers to cooperate with their investigation.

Meanwhile, Feng Qingzhuo inspires a guilt-ridden Xiao Beiming with an idea to help his friends back at the Divine Capture Camp, who are suffering because of their association with him. In a sudden turn of events, Huo Dairong approaches Xue Qianshan with wine, feigning grief over her father's death. She skillfully coaxes him into revealing he acquired his wealth by finding a "treasure," which he offers to show her. When he fails to return, a scream is heard. A search party finds Xue Qianshan dead, seemingly murdered by Feng Qingzhuo, who stands over the body in a daze, with no memory of what just happened.

The enraged members of the Huo household move to seize Feng Qingzhuo, but Zhong Xueman steps in to defend him. Zhuge Kongyun supports her, arguing that the highly skilled martial artist Xue Qianshan could not have been killed by Feng Qingzhuo, who has no fighting abilities. Using her authority from the Divine Capture Camp, Zhong Xueman takes Feng Qingzhuo into custody for further investigation. Unbeknownst to her, Zhuge Kongyun has found a significant clue on Xue Qianshan's body, which he decides to keep to himself.
