Spoiler Alert
The plot thickens as Xiao Beiming, accompanied by Zhuge Kongyun, steps into the grim prison, seeking solitude to process a critical piece of information. Zhuge Kongyun confirms Xiao Beiming's darkest suspicions, and the identity of the new Night Devil is finally brought to light, leaving Xiao in a state of shock.
Connecting the dots, Xiao Beiming lays out the chilling truth. The new Night Devil is an orphan from Haiya, the very place tied to the ongoing revenge plot. This individual has been hiding in plain sight, privy to their every move and plan. The investigation took a sharp turn when Zhuge Kongyun, tipped off by Hai Bo, looked into Tong Shuang's family. They exhumed the coffin of his brother, Tong Peng, only to find the body of Tong Shuang himself. This discovery, coupled with the fact that several key figures died shortly after seeing Tong Shuang, paints a clear picture of a meticulously planned conspiracy.Feng Qingzhuo adds another piece to the puzzle, recalling that when he rescued Tong Shuang, there were no ligature marks on his arms, proving the marks were a later addition to feign victimhood.
The truth is that Tong Shuang faked his death. He knew about the Swift Wind Pill hidden in the secret chamber and orchestrated his own "demise" to retrieve it, planning to unleash another deadly virus.
With the truth in hand, Zhuge Tong and his son go before the Emperor to vouch for Xiao Beiming's innocence. When questioned by the Emperor, Xiao solemnly utters the word "Haiya," explaining that the people of Haiya are now seeking vengeance for past injustices. He warns of the imminent danger posed by Tong Shuang and the Swift Wind Pill. The Emperor, alarmed, orders the immediate capture of the Night Devil.
However, Xiao Beiming argues that this is a temporary solution. He boldly confronts the Emperor, stating that even if this Night Devil is caught, another will simply rise to take his place until the root cause is addressed. Risking execution for his insolence, Xiao lists the Emperor's past transgressions, primarily the displacement and suffering of the Haiya people. He implores the Emperor to issue a public decree, telling the world the truth about Haiya and granting its people a home and a future. After careful consideration, the Emperor agrees to Xiao's proposal. Xiao Beiming emerges from the palace, much to the relief of his waiting friends.
Finally exonerated after three long years, Xiao Beiming is reinstated. The Dark Detective Camp and the Divine Capture Camp join forces to hunt down Tong Shuang. Xiao eagerly partners with Zhong Xueman to track down the fugitive. Meanwhile, Tong Shuang, his face twisted into a sinister sneer, finds his next target, Wu Zhui.
In a bizarre and public spectacle, a group of ritualists appears on the street, chanting as their talismans glow and change color. An illusion of a mythical beast materializes in the sky, and moments later, Wu Zhui's mangled body plummets to the ground. The terrified crowd scatters, believing a real demon has appeared.
Xiao Beiming and Zhong Xueman, arriving at the chaotic scene, examine the body. Wu Zhui's wounds suggest an attack by a ferocious beast, but Xiao is convinced it's a trick. Later, Zhong Xueman tracks down the ritual performers, who confess they were paid anonymously; they found a box of money at their door that morning with instructions, but have no idea who hired them.
