Plot Synopsis
This drama is called "The Hunt".
It starts with apunch. A guy named Ni Xiangdong agrees to helphis friend, Cao Xiaojun, move a wooden box. He opens it and finds Cao's dead body inside.
Thepolice get involved. Cao's wife, Wu Ximei, reports her husband missing andpoints her finger straight at Ni Xiangdong. But when the cops question her, her story falls apart. Thepolice also find out the child she's raising with Cao isn't biologically his.
Backed into a corner, Wu Ximei spills some of their history. She and Ni Xiangdong used to be a couple. Ni didn't want the child, so Cao stepped in, married her, and raised the kid as his own.
The investigation gets messier. Thepolice run more tests and discover the child isn't Ni Xiangdong's either.
Ni Xiangdong himself is apuzzle.People from his hometown call him a monster. His coworkers say he's a saint who financially supports an elderly man. Two completely different stories about one man. One of them has to be a lie.
A veteran cop, Meng Chao, and his rookiepartner, Tong Hao, take the case. They travel the country, from the northecoast to the southejungles. Their job is to untangle a deadly web of murder that has tied these threepeople together for over a decade and figure out who is the real killer.
