Love in Pavilion: Episode 14 Recap & Spoilers

Alright, buckle up because this episode hit the ground running, and it wasn't pretty.

We start with Mu Mie returning to Baiyu Village, and scene is grim – total massacre, bodies everywhere. The culprit, Ye Yuan, is just finishing off the last poor soul when he spots Mu Mie. Recognizing him as the guy who discovered the leech demon (Shui Zhi Yao), Ye Yuan immediately gets aggressive, demanding to know where the demon is.

Just in the nick of time, Cui Yu swoops in trying to pull Mu Mie out of there, but Ye Yuan isn't about to let them walk. Thankfully, they've got some unseen backup. Yang Yitan secretly lends Mu Mie a hand, helping him activate his "Sky Eye" (Tian Yan) to see the flow of Ye Yuan's demonic energy (Yao Xi). The tables turn completely when Yang Yitan and Wangquan Zui step out of the shadows. Ye Yuan knows he's outmatched and makes a swift exit.

Now, here’s a twist: Mu Mie looks at Yang Yitan and realizes this is the guy from his dreams – the one who gouged out his own Sky Eye! Small world, right? Yang Yitan hears Mu Mie's surname ("Mu") and puts two and two together, confirming Mu Mie is the son of his aunt, Yang Yan (who sadly passed away six months prior). Family reunion! Though, Mu Mie is pretty cagey about why he actually came to Baiyu Village in the first place. Hmm.

Meanwhile, over with Huaizhu and Wangquan... Huaizhu totally knows Wangquan is faking being asleep. She sets guards on him, but please, like that would stop him. As soon as she leaves, he uses some sleeping incense to knock out the guards and heads straight for the Rebirth Pool (Wangsheng Chi) to investigate. He finds some seriously powerful formations and purification energy on the "Golden Morning曦" (Jin Chenxi – maybe an artifact or place within the pool?), but senses something's... missing.

His solo mission is interrupted by Ye Yuan showing up again! But before things can escalate, Huaizhu also arrives. Using some kind of control ability linked to Jialan (another name drop!), she neutralizes Ye Yuan, wipes his memory of the encounter, and they both make a clean getaway from the pool. Smooth.

Later, Wangquan Zui and Yang Yitan try to get intel from Cui Yu about the mysterious Biluo City and the Golden Morning Inn (Jin Chen Kezhan). But Blue-eyed Cui Yu (remember, she seems to have distinct personalities) claims she only knows Biluo City is dangerous and doesn't know anything else. Even Wangquan Zui's hypnosis skills can't get her to recall her time at the inn – she actively resists remembering.

Plot twist! It turns out Cui Yu is the Leech Demon everyone's been talking about, and she's got healing skills. She notices Yang Yitan is badly injured (internally and externally) and warns him he can't use his Sky Eye again anytime soon. Then, Red-eyed Cui Yu pipes up, offering to heal Yang Yitan, but only if Mu Mie assists her. Interesting condition.

Wangquan isn't dumb; he figures out Huaizhu has been testing him. He decides to lean into it, proposing they stage a little drama together to lure Jiu Huo into a trap. Huaizhu agrees and takes Wangquan straight to Jiu Huo. The plan? She claims she can trade Wangquan's life to Wangquan Zui and Yang Yitan in exchange for the Leech Demon (Cui Yu). Jiu Huo buys it and gives Huaizhu three days. Soon, notices announcing this "deal" are plastered all over the city.

While gathering herbs, Mu Mie (who's pretty sharp) chats with Cui Yu and points out he's noticed her different personalities – the gentle, kind Blue-eyed version and the fiery Red-eyed one. Red-eyed Cui Yu playfully asks which he prefers. Mu Mie, being the straightforward guy he is, says neither version seems like someone who would kill easily. He judges based on actions, not whether someone is human or demon. This frustrates Red-eyed Cui Yu; his logic of trusting based on evidence doesn't sway her.

We get a glimpse into motivations: Jiu Huo wants to rescue Jialan, while Wangquan Hongye (possibly Wangquan's full name, or another character tied to him?) wants to save Huaizhu. Huaizhu sees this as leverage she can use against both of them.

In a quieter moment, Blue-eyed Cui Yu wonders why Yang Yitan cares so much about Wangquan Zui, seemingly more than his own life. Yang Yitan doesn't really explain, but Wangquan Zui overhears from outside the door, realizing just how important she is to him. Aww.

The climax of the episode builds as Huaizhu gets all dressed up for a meeting. Wangquan is worried – she plans to use Jialan's power to mentally control Jiu Huo, who is a powerful "Sky Demon" (Tian Yao). But Huaizhu is confident she's got this handled and goes to Jiu Huo's room alone. Turns out, Jiu Huo is in a weakened state. Huaizhu seizes the opportunity, uses her mental control, asks her questions, gets the answers she needs, and then wipes Jiu Huo's memory. However, Jiu Huo is strong enough that a fragmented memory – something about red clothes – lingers. Uh oh.

Finally, Blue-eyed Cui Yu wants to leave their current situation, but Red-eyed Cui Yu wants to stay and surprisingly agrees to let Yang Yitan hypnotize her (maybe she changed her mind, or the circumstances are different?).

The episode ends with Jiu Huo declaring that Wangquan can never leave Biluo City. But Wangquan Zui just smiles cryptically and says, "Maybe he can't... but Huaizhu can."
