The Ultimate Betrayal

The episode opens right where we left off. Feng Suige has been stabbed. He turns around, and you can see the disbelief on his face. The one holding the knife is Murong Yao. His supposed best friend.

Before Feng Suige can even process it, Murong Yao's father steps in. Murong Zhong delivers another, final blow. The Emperor, Feng Pingcheng, is also dead. Both father and son were murdered right there in the imperial study.

Murong Yao looks like he's about to completely fall apart. He started this whole plan. But he never expected it to drag his own father into treason. He certainly didn't expect to be the one to stab his friend.

The Cover-Up Begins

Murong Zhong doesn't have time for his son's crisis of conscience. He already has the story figured out. He'll pin the whole thing on Feng Suige. The official story will be that Feng Suige murdered his own father, the Emperor, to seize the throne. And Murong Yao will be the hero who stopped him. It's a twisted plan.

Zhuang Jingyuan is fully on board with this. He promises that when Feng Chengyang becomes the new emperor, the Murong family will be rewarded for their loyalty. With a token from Zhuang Jingyuan, Murong Yao's carriage is able to leave the palace without any issues. Inside that carriage is Feng Suige's body.

Murong Yao drives out to a quiet bamboo forest. He starts digging a grave. He is completely alone with what he's done.

A Desperate Rescue

Back at the residence, Fu Yixiao wakes up. She sees Feng Suige is gone and knows he went to the palace. She gets a terrible feeling she can't shake.

She was right to worry. Luckily, Ruyan was secretly following Murong Yao. She sees him with Feng Suige's body. She quickly leaves a hairpin to mark the spot and rushes back to give Fu Yixiao the news.

Fu Yixiao doesn't hesitate. She rides out, finds the grave, and literally digs Feng Suige out of the ground. She gets him to Ling Feng immediately.

The Clock is Ticking

Ling Feng examines him. The stab wounds themselves aren't fatal. But his heart is failing. His will to live is strong, but Ling Feng makes no promises. He isn't sure he can save him.

The medicine Ling Feng provides can only keep Feng Suige alive for five days. If they can't get him to the Fengyu Alliance within that time, he will die. Fu Yixiao makes a vow. She will get him there, even if it costs her own life.

The Road to Hell

The villains are already making their moves. Murong Zhong finds out the First Prince's mansion is empty. He learns Feng Suige's loyal men have all gathered at Zheng Nian Hall. He orders his other son, Murong Jie, to take the Imperial Guard, surround the hall, and leave no one alive.

Zhuang Jingyuan lies directly to Feng Chengyang's face. He tells him Feng Suige killed both Zhuang Shen and the Emperor.

On the road to the Fengyu Alliance, Murong Jie's forces catch up to them. The Qiongqi team stays behind to buy time for the main carriage to escape. Murong Jie has too many men. Shen Gou and Gu Yu are killed in the fight. Their sacrifice gives the carriage a valuable head start.

Trouble in Another Kingdom

We get a quick check-in with the other royals. Xia Jingyan offers Feng Xiyang a way out. He says he can help her leave Jinxiu and go back home to Su Sha. He even gives her divorce papers. She rips them to shreds. She tells him their relationship is completely over now.

Back in Jinxiu, Emperor Xia Jingyan learns about the coup in Su Sha. He's thrilled. He wants to kill his rival, Xia Jingshi, right away. But Empress Dowager Jing stops him. She wants control of the Zhennan Army, which Xia Jingshi commands. She forbids Xia Jingyan from killing him without her permission.

As wanted posters go up all over Su Sha calling Feng Suige a traitor, Ling Feng gives a warning. The Fengyu Alliance doesn't care about kingdoms. It's run by four elders. They have to be very careful not to offend anyone. If they mess this up, Feng Suige can't be saved.
