Spoiler Alert
Buckle up, folks — Episode 28 of Wanna Be hits hard, and not just emotionally. Moyi Road is in full-blown crisis mode, and it’s not looking pretty. Investors are pulling out left and right, the company's key players Han Yijing and Xing Mo are gone, and CEO Ling? MIA. The once-glitzy dream project is now just... a shell.
TL;DR:
Moyi Road hit rock bottom, but loyalty, love, and leadership are pulling it back together. Jia Fan and Han Yijing share a beautiful, bittersweet moment before going their separate ways (for now), and CEO Ling regains control, with a little help from her fiercely loyal team. Episode 28 is a slow burn of raw emotion and quiet resilience — and it sets the stage for what could be a powerful comeback.
When in Doubt, Drown It in Liquor
The gang gathers at Xing Mo’s bar, but it’s less of a party and more of a collective pity session. Wu Ming is downing drinks like water, You Ning is still haunted by the mess she caused, and Li Haoran is fuming after hearing that some of the rookie group members are already looking for exits. He tells them to get lost — loudly — and it takes Xing Mo to calm him down.
Then comes Wu Ming’s mic-drop moment. He lays it out: if people want to jump ship, let them. But those who stay? Trust in CEO Ling. She picked them for a reason. And if she believed in them, they owe her the same.
Secrets, Sandwiches, and Tears
But the tough talk doesn’t stick for long. Once outside the bar, Wu Ming breaks down. Sitting on the curb, crying, he confesses to Xing Mo that he’s not really afraid for Moyi Road — he’s afraid for CEO Ling. Because the one caught in the crossfire this time is Han Yijing, and Han Yijing is her everything. Xing Mo comforts him, saying that all they can do now is trust her and give her time. Wu Ming nods — but also points out that Jia Fan might just be their last hope.
A Breath of Air (and Ice Cream)
Meanwhile, Jia Fan finds Han Yijing and whisks her away for a moment of peace. They sit by the seaside, waiting for the sunrise... but it’s cloudy. No matter. Jia Fan suggests they go on a date — just the two of them, no masks, no hiding. They ride bikes, eat ice cream, take selfies, go shopping, camp by the ocean, collect seashells, splash in the waves. For once, it’s just joy. No drama. No company. No expectations. Just them.
Truth Bomb Incoming
Back in the chaos, Xing Mo shows up at CEO Ling’s place with food (a sandwich, to be precise — this will matter). With Wu Ming spiraling and Moyi Road in shambles, he gently pushes her to stop hiding and just tell Han Yijing the truth already. “She’s not a kid anymore,” he says. “And not in her rebellious phase either.”
Turns out, Liao Jinyuan even pulled strings to set up a medical consultation to help Han Yijing — offering up his role as Qixiang's editor-in-chief in exchange. He didn’t tell CEO Ling, insisting it was because he owed it to Han Yijing. CEO Ling listens, munches on the sandwich, and smiles, saying Xing Mo really does know how to comfort people — and that it’s not his only talent.
A Message, a Confession, and a Promise
Ling finally texts Han Yijing, explaining the medical consultation and how helping Jia Fan’s father could be the first step in something bigger. She even apologizes for making decisions on Han Yijing’s behalf but says she’s grateful she got to watch her grow up.
That night, in a tent by the sea, Han Yijing and Jia Fan look into each other's eyes and finally face the truth. She knows what he’s thinking, and he knows her heart too. She says she’s not going to France with him — but she will wait for him. Always. Jia Fan tells her to never forget that he’s there for her, no matter what. And to take care of herself until he comes back.
The Comeback We Needed
Just when it feels like things are falling apart, the shareholders’ meeting gets pulled forward. After much deliberation, the four major investors make a surprising choice: they’re sticking with CEO Ling. Why? Xing Mo made a call. He told them Jia Fan agreed to go to France, You Ning is pivoting to acting (a bold new direction for Moyi Road), and they discussed a whole lot more. Li, one of the key investors, admits he never expected someone as sharp and ruthless as Han Jialing to have this many loyal supporters. The vote is unanimous: full support for CEO Ling.
Everyone’s thrilled — especially CEO Ling. Even though Xing Mo officially terminated his contract, he’s staying on as a mentor. Moyi Road might have been shaken, but it’s far from over.
