Spoiler Alert
So, Xie Tianjun is all up in Xuan Qing's face, demanding to know what secrets are being kept. Xuan Qing plays it coy, dodging the questions and basically telling Xie Tianjun to just trust Yuan Beichen's plan. Mysterious, right?
Meanwhile, Mo Xiao gets wind that Yuan Beichen is, like, about to be tossed into the dreaded Ghost Valley for burial. Naturally, Mo Xiao's not having it and rushes back to Shushan. Little Hammer (Xiao Langtou) gives Mo Xiao a heads-up: if he's going back, he better keep his mouth shut about anything that went down in the fishing village. Mo Xiao kneels before leaving, presumably steeling himself for what's to come.
On his way back, Mo Xiao overhears everyone blabbing about how Murong Changfeng is the real hero, and how Mo Xiao and Yuan Beichen were basically demonic scum who deserved what they got. Even the Lun Tian sect disciples are pinning the blame on Mo Xiao for their sect being sealed off. Mo Xiao, in a dramatic entrance, appears behind them and snatches Yuan Beichen's body, determined to bury him in the Afterlife Sea.
Turns out, Murong Changfeng knew Mo Xiao was still kicking. He confronts Mo Xiao, saying that even though Mo Xiao hasn't done anything evil yet, he's a demon child, and that's a sin in itself. Yuan Beichen adopting him was also a mistake, and now they gotta pay the price. Murong Changfeng demands the Sect Leader token in exchange for allowing Yuan Beichen's funeral at Lun Tian sect and burial at the Afterlife Sea. Mo Xiao agrees to the funeral but refuses to hand over the token, because he ain't undoing what his master stood for. This sends Murong Changfeng into a rage, and he tries to off Mo Xiao, only to realize Mo Xiao's been suppressing his aura and is basically running on human-level power. Murong Changfeng gets even more desperate to take him out, but Little Hammer swoops in with some water magic and saves the day.
Now, Wu Shuang's been waiting for Mo Xiao, worried sick that he's dead. Xuyuan Yunchao, who's been out gathering intel, returns with news that Mo Xiao's alive and kicking. Plus, Xuan Qing sent an invite for a meetup, along with Yuan Beichen's last wishes in a package for Mo Xiao. Wu Shuang figures Mo Xiao's probably chilling with the Nuwa clan at the Li River. She promises to deliver the package, since she's actually a Nuwa saintess who ran off with Ye Yuan and birthed Mo Xiao, making Mo Xiao the clan leader's grandson. Talk about family drama!
Xuyuan Yunchao escorts Wu Shuang to the fishing village by the Li River. Chong Guang finds out and orders Chang Ming to tail them, but only intervene if absolutely necessary. Oh, and Chang Ming also drops the bomb that Feng Lixue is MIA from Mount Suyu, which freaks Chong Guang out.
Mo Xiao wakes up to find Shi Bujiu standing over him. Before they can even exchange pleasantries, Murong Changfeng and the Shushan crew arrive, looking for trouble. Little Hammer, anticipating this, tells Shi Bujiu to hide Mo Xiao and the villagers in a pre-built hideout. Mo Xiao refuses to leave, but Shi Bujiu forces him. Little Hammer fights Murong Changfeng but starts losing ground until Wu Shuang and Xuyuan Yunchao arrive and turn the tide. Little Hammer gets injured and blames Wu Shuang for putting everyone in danger for her own feelings. He tells her to take Mo Xiao and never come back. Meanwhile, Feng Lixue is lurking in the shadows, watching everything unfold.
Wu Shuang visits Mo Xiao, who's finally awake. But instead of a happy reunion, Mo Xiao's full of resentment. He blames himself for Yuan Beichen's death and the villagers being caught in the crossfire, all because he's a demon child. Ouch.
