"Destiny and Saving" Episode 36: Recap & Spoilers

Okay, things are getting real in "Destiny and Saving." Episode 36 is packed with revelations, betrayals, and enough angst to fuel a small country. Let's dive in!

Mo Xiao is wrestling with the idea that he might be the embodiment of evil, the "Demon Child" himself. Wu Shuang, burdened by guilt, doesn't know how to comfort him. Instead, she hands over a package from Xuan Zhen, Mo Xiao's mom. Apparently, Xuan Zhen believes Wu Shuang is the only person Mo Xiao trusts and who can protect him. Mo Xiao, in a move that shows surprising trust, insists Wu Shuang stay while he opens it. Inside? The Leader's Token and... Yuan Beichen's eyeballs. Yeah, you read that right. Mo Xiao immediately kneels, understanding this is some kind of final message from his master.

Flashback time! Yuan Beichen reveals the events of the ancient battle between the immortals and demons, and we learn that Ye Yuan heard Wu Shuang's baby crying after she gave birth to Mo Xiao. Feng Yue destroyed the Tianmo Order (Heavenly Demon Order), splitting it into three parts. Ye Yuan gave the love/lust demon stone to Chong Guang, entrusting him with the demon realm. Apparently, Chong Guang is destined to kick off another war between the immortals and demons, and Mo Xiao is the only one who can stop it. No pressure, right?

Wu Shuang, understandably emotional after witnessing all this, can't find the words to comfort Mo Xiao and leaves him alone. Mo Xiao is left staring at Yuan Beichen's eyes, tears streaming down his face. Wu Shuang seeks out Shi Bujiu and Xuyuan Yunchao. Shi Bujiu, misinterpreting the situation, thinks Mo Xiao is rejecting Wu Shuang as his mother. Wu Shuang stops him from interfering, hoping Mo Xiao needs some space and time to decide if he wants to come with them.

Meanwhile, Chong Guang is on the hunt for the missing Feng Lixue. She returns on her own, accompanied by a little bird, Que'er. Chong Guang is all concern, but Feng Lixue is silent and aloof. Chong Guang experiences a sharp pain in his chest and orders Chang Ming to deliver a medicinal wine to Feng Lixue. That night, Chang Ming secretly gives a bottle of liquid to Murong Changfeng, who seems pretty pleased about it. Hmmm, suspicious!

Mo Xiao decides to leave with Wu Shuang, but the villagers try to convince him to stay, since they are reluctant to let their Saintess go. Wu Shuang publicly declares that she and Mo Xiao are cutting ties with the Xuyuan clan to protect them. The villagers understand and respect her decision. Wu Shuang bids a tearful farewell to her father's room. Shi Bujiu tries to comfort Wu Shuang, grumbling about his son's coldness. Wu Shuang isn't angry, understanding her father's personality. As Wu Shuang, Mo Xiao, and Xuyuan Yunchao leave, Xiao Langtou watches them go, waving goodbye in secret.

Back at Chong Guang's place, he's brushing Feng Lixue's hair when Chang Ming informs him that Wu Shuang and Mo Xiao have returned. The leaders of the Seven Caves and Nine Abyss refuse to welcome Mo Xiao, but Chong Guang insists they all greet him in full regalia, along with Feng Lixue.

Chang Ming anxiously waits for Feng Lixue to get ready, but she's stalling. It turns out she's disguised herself and sent a message to release the Four Great Masters to stop Mo Xiao from ascending Mount Suyu. This is in direct opposition to Chang Ming's earlier orders. Confused, the guards ultimately let the masters go. Feng Lixue then gets ready and joins Chang Ming to meet Chong Guang. Everyone gathers to await Wu Shuang and Mo Xiao's arrival.

Chong Guang welcomes Mo Xiao, but it's all an act. He plans to use Mo Xiao and even kisses Feng Lixue's hand in front of him. Mo Xiao ignores the gesture. The Four Great Masters suddenly attack Mo Xiao, and Feng Lixue joins in, pulling him away from the others. She secretly gives Mo Xiao the Feng Yue sword, urging him to leave, reminding him that he is a disciple of Feng Yue Sword Master and doesn't belong there. Chong Guang realizes something is up and intervenes. Feng Lixue pretends to strike Mo Xiao, but Chong Guang suspects she's regained her senses.

Feng Lixue admits that Mo Xiao's Feng Yue sword awakened her in front of the Demon-Suppressing Palace in Shushan. She's been pretending to be unaware ever since. Chong Guang reminds her that she's now the Demon Queen, but Feng Lixue dismisses it as a mere formality. Chong Guang is enraged by her defiance.

Feng Lixue seeks out Mo Xiao, who has been indulging in wine, women, and song since his return. Feng Lixue offers her concern, but Mo Xiao treats her with cold formality, repeatedly calling her "Demon Queen." Feng Lixue leaves, sensing his hostility. Wu Shuang praises Mo Xiao's behavior, but Mo Xiao ignores her and walks away, leaving Wu Shuang feeling guilty and responsible.

Despite his outward rejection, Mo Xiao secretly longs for Feng Lixue, his feelings growing stronger. This causes him increasing pain, which he endures in solitude.
