Destiny and Saving: Episode 38

Spoiler Alert

So, Murong Ce is pressing Lingxiang about some big plan that's in the works. Turns out, even he's in the dark about what Murong Changfeng is really up to. Meanwhile, Murong Changfeng meets with Chang Ming, all excited that Chong Guang has found Mo Xiao and they're about to kick off this whole Qian Qiu Ling thing. Murong Changfeng promises Chang Ming that once they snag the Qian Qiu Ling, he'll reunite him with his sister. Here's the catch: Chong Guang was brought back to life by Ye Yuan using the Blood Demon Orb, and Chang Ming, who's been planted by Murong Changfeng, knows the Orb's weakness. Snatching the Orb would off Chong Guang for good, but Chang Ming's got a soft spot for Chong Guang and begs Murong Changfeng to spare him. Murong Changfeng just laughs, not giving anything away. Classic villain move.

Mo Xiao's planning a trip to Mount Buzhou to fire up the Tianmo Order, and Wu Shuang is worried sick. Mo Xiao gets why Feng Yue raised a demon kid to guard the Qian Qiu Ling. Feng Yue knew that it's all about having a righteous heart, no matter if you're a demon or a fairy. It's not the Qian Qiu Ling that needs protecting, but that inner goodness. Wu Shuang is tearing up because she knows Mo Xiao's all about saving the world, and she's scared of losing him again after finally finding him. Mo Xiao gets emotional too, and asks his mom to tell Feng Lixue that if he bites the dust, he's got a place all set for her at Peach Blossom Waterfront where she can live out her days in peace.

Feng Lixue, not one to sit around, disguises herself and finds Mo Xiao. She begs him to ditch everything and run away with her. But Mo Xiao plays it cold, accusing her of being a gold digger who's only interested now that Chong Guang is losing his grip. Feng Lixue just wants him to stop before he goes too far down a dark path. Mo Xiao insists he was born a demon and can't go back to the light. Feng Lixue suggests they become regular folks and get married, but Mo Xiao turns her down again. She pleads with him not to give up on himself or Shushan. She lays it on thick, telling him he's a beacon of hope that lights up the snowy mountains. Mo Xiao's touched, but the pain from the shouxin sand (the "guarding heart sand") kicks in, and he cruelly sends her away.

Heartbroken, Feng Lixue returns to find Chong Guang waiting for her. He knew she went to see Mo Xiao and tells Wu Shuang to accept the situation. He believes Mo Xiao, as Feng Yue's successor and with Ye Yuan's blood, is unstoppable in getting the Qian Qiu Ling. Chong Guang is convinced Mo Xiao will help him get it.

The next day, Mo Xiao's about to fire up the Tianmo Order for Chong Guang and summon a demon army. But Feng Lixue suddenly grabs the Tianmo Order and jumps into the Tianmo Abyss, hoping that her death will destroy it and stop the whole Qian Qiu Ling mess. She tells Mo Xiao she's doing this for him. Chong Guang clutches his chest in pain as he watches Feng Lixue fall. Mo Xiao, without a second thought, jumps after her! Wu Shuang screams Mo Xiao's name, trying to follow, but Xuyuan Yunchao holds her back.

As Feng Lixue falls with a smile, ready to sacrifice herself, Mo Xiao dives after her, yelling her name. Chong Guang, despite the pain, orders Chang Ming to save Feng Lixue.

Right Protector Tu Shuo saves both Feng Lixue and Mo Xiao, bringing them to his cave. Feng Lixue is unconscious because she can't handle the magic from the Three Saints Stone. Tu Shuo offers to transfer the power to Mo Xiao, but it'll be a painful battle between his demon and immortal energies. Mo Xiao, being the selfless hero, agrees to save Feng Lixue.

In a vision, Mo Xiao sees a demonic version of himself, who accuses him of suppressing his demon powers. Mo Xiao insists he won't betray his master's teachings. They fight, and Mo Xiao is defeated. Then, Feng Yue appears, telling Mo Xiao to hold onto his heart and righteousness, and he'll never truly be a demon. Yuan Beichen shows up too, reminding him that the shouxin sand is there to test his heart. He encourages Mo Xiao to trust himself and do what's right, but Mo Xiao's still confused about what that is.

Tu Shuo, seeing Mo Xiao struggling, uses his own energy to protect Mo Xiao's mind. He explains that the Immortal Sects and demons were on separate paths until Chong Guang's greed caused everything to go wrong, and now they need to fix it.

Mo Xiao finally understands, and with one move, destroys the demon inside him. He wakes up to find the Tianmo mark gone from his forehead and the shouxin sand gone from his arm. Tu Shuo is thrilled and disappears, off to join Mo Yuan.

Mo Xiao takes Feng Lixue away from Tianmo Abyss, and Wu Shuang is overjoyed. Chong Guang, weakened by the backlash, is relieved to hear Feng Lixue is safe but surprised that Mo Xiao has left Mount Suyu.

Murong Changfeng learns that the Tianmo Order is destroyed, and Murong Ce is bummed out after finding out what his dad's been up to.

Xie Lingyun wakes up thanks to Murong Jing's care. Feng Lixue also wakes up in the house from her and Mo Xiao's vision. She thinks she's dead but realizes it's real. She remembers all the good times with Mo Xiao and starts crying. Mo Xiao walks in, holding up a fish he caught, and Feng Lixue smiles through her tears.

Mo Xiao cooks the fish for Feng Lixue, who's still amazed that it's not a dream. She's happy the shouxin sand is gone, but Mo Xiao's worried about her jumping into the Tianmo Abyss. She says she'd sacrifice herself for him, and he hugs her, telling her not to do anything crazy again. She promises she won't.

The episode ends with Murong Changfeng entering a secret room, only to find Murong Ce waiting for him. Dun dun duuuun!
