"Destiny and Saving" Episode 39: Recap & Spoilers
Okay, things are really heating up in "Destiny and Saving"! Episode 39 is packed with revelations, betrayals, and some major showdowns. Let's dive in.
The episode kicks off with Murong Ce following his father, Murong Changfeng, into a secret chamber. Murong Changfeng is tinkering with something inside a massive cauldron. Turns out, he's not surprised to see Murong Ce and proceeds to lay out his grand plan: he's heading to Mount Buzhou to break the seal on the Feng Yue Sword and grab the Qian Qiu Ling (Thousand Autumns Command). He'd hoped Chong Guang could do it, but alas, Chong Guang is proving to be a disappointment.
Murong Ce tries to reason with his dad, suggesting he confess his wrongdoings and trust that Shushan will show mercy. But Murong Changfeng isn't having it. He attacks Murong Ce, calls him useless, snatches something from the cauldron, and bolts.
Xie Lingyun wakes up to find a wounded Murong Ce at her side. He spills the beans about Murong Changfeng's scheme to Xuan Qing and Xie Tianjun. Lingyun worries that the Immortal Sects won't believe them, but Murong Jing pulls out the Sect Leader's token – a parting gift from Mo Xiao when he sent her back. This should be enough to convince everyone.
Speaking of Mo Xiao, he's suddenly fixated on the name "Ni Huang." Just then, Feng Lixue returns, and Mo Xiao mistakes her for Ni Huang! Feng Lixue, oblivious, asks him to fetch water while she prepares a "surprise" – a big, red "happiness" character for their… nuptials?
While getting water, Mo Xiao is flooded with memories of Bai Yan and Ni Huang. He summons Hualang, desperate to figure out who these people are. Hualang reveals that Bai Yan was Mo Xiao's name in a past life in the Heavens! Mo Xiao remembers sealing Ni Huang's spiritual energy so no one could find her except Bai Yan. After two lifetimes, he's finally found Ni Huang! He rushes back to Feng Lixue, but she's been kidnapped by some dark force. Mo Xiao finds a dropped flower ball and learns that Shushan is facing a conspiracy. He sends Hualang to warn Wu Shuang.
Wu Shuang, meanwhile, is springing Ji Xingluo from… somewhere. She tells Ji Xingluo that the time is right and that she's found her son. Chong Guang, by the way, has been thrown into Demon Prison. Ji Xingluo is shocked to learn that Yuan Beichen raised the Demon Clan's young leader. Wu Shuang says Yuan Beichen is dead, having taken his own life. She returns Ji Xingluo's magical artifact. Ji Xingluo is devastated, as she was waiting for an apology from Yuan Beichen that will never come. Wu Shuang urges her to focus on the important tasks ahead.
Back to the bad guys: Murong Changfeng, with Chang Ming in tow (carrying the kidnapped Feng Lixue), arrives at Mount Buzhou. They discover all the sect leaders are already there, demanding justice. Murong Changfeng tries to deny everything, but Murong Ce arrives with Lingxiang, asking her to tell the truth. Lingxiang hesitates, fearing for Chang Ming's life. Chang Ming overhears and realizes Murong Changfeng has been using them both as his personal weapons.
Xie Tianjun uses the Sect Leader's token to strip Murong Changfeng of his position and orders him to be taken back to Shushan for punishment. Murong Changfeng scoffs, saying they can't hurt him. He immediately attacks Chang Ming and Lingxiang. Xuan Qing and Xie Tianjun team up to fight Murong Changfeng, but Lingxiang sacrifices herself to save Xuan Qing, disappearing in Chang Ming's arms. Murong Changfeng, now clearly corrupted by demonic energy, grabs Feng Lixue and flees. Everyone realizes Murong Changfeng has become a demon. Mo Xiao arrives, and the others entrust him with the mission to protect the Qian Qiu Ling, thanking him for putting aside past grievances.
Wu Shuang announces a battle for the Qian Qiu Ling, declaring that they will remain neutral, defend their homeland, and rebuild the Demon Clan. Chang Ming tells Chong Guang that Murong Changfeng is heading to Mount Buzhou to steal the Qian Qiu Ling, then dies.
At Mount Buzhou, Murong Changfeng uses Feng Lixue as leverage, demanding that Mo Xiao open the third seal. Mo Xiao knows that opening the Qian Qiu Ling will reveal Ni Huang's true identity, attracting the attention of the Heavens. He no longer has a second dragon ball to protect her. He publicly agrees to open the seal. But when they reach the Qian Qiu Ling's location, Mo Xiao actually reinforces the seal! Murong Changfeng tries to stop him, but Murong Ce, his sister, and Xie Lingyun arrive to intervene. Murong Changfeng injures them, and a heartbroken Murong Ce declares he's severing his father-son relationship.
Murong Changfeng rushes to Mo Xiao, threatening to kill Feng Lixue if he interferes. Chong Guang arrives, calling Murong Changfeng a fool and revealing that he knew Chang Ming was Murong Changfeng's pawn all along. Murong Changfeng then reveals that Chong Guang and Feng Lixue are affected by Bingqing Fu (Ice Clean Butterfly), which is the only weapon to control Chong Guang. Enraged, Chong Guang gathers demonic energy in his palm.
