The episode opens with Bai Keqing extending an invitation to Luo Shanshan for dinner, with Lin Yasheng also on the guest list. Meanwhile, Jin Chuan drops a bomb on the board, resigning from his administrative position due to "health reasons," but he's holding onto his research role. Gao Jianguo is set to take over Jin Chuan's responsibilities. Lin Yasheng updates his father, Lin Shoulong, on the video investigation, but Lin Shoulong seems more concerned about Jin Chuan's resignation and how it impacts Azure No. 1. The father-son moment is surprisingly heartwarming, with Lin Yasheng joking that all good kids are just overhyped.
Luo Shanshan pulls out all the stops for the dinner, rocking a dress and heels. She's been busy, clearing Jin Chuan's name in the hidden camera investigation. Bai Keqing, playing the innocent card, starts probing Luo Shanshan and Huo Min about their history, and their stories don't quite line up. Awkward! Lin Yasheng pulls Huo Min aside to grill him about the investigation, and Bai Keqing is clearly picking up on the tension.
In a surprising turn, Matt meets up with Huo Min at his parents' noodle shop. Huo Min introduces Matt as his boss, but Matt's got other plans. He confronts Huo Jun, Huo Min's brother, revealing he knows he's a cop. The whole scene is chaotic, with family members trying to cover up their secrets. Matt warns Huo Min not to interfere with his plans and tells him to contact Peng Yonghui directly.
Lu Chen is making friends with Old Zhao, Shoulong Group's electrician, who brags about controlling all the electricity in the company, including Lin Shoulong's office. Turns out, Old Zhao was involved in replacing the window blinds in Lin Shoulong's office – twice! Luo Shanshan tasks Lu Chen with bringing Old Zhao in for questioning. Old Zhao confesses that he installed a curtain box with a hidden recorder for a friend looking to sell information. When the leak went public, he removed it. Surveillance footage confirms someone was cleaning the windows the day the curtain box "broke."
Luo Shanshan tries to plant a Trojan horse in the recorder, but someone's on to them. Zheng Qi informs his superior that they've been exposed and is ordered to disappear after dealing with the recorder's source. Deputy Mayor Jiang gives Lin Shoulong an ultimatum, and Gao Jianguo suggests negotiating based on Sha Peng's terms. Lin Shoulong is worried about Sha Peng taking advantage, but Gao Jianguo volunteers to handle the negotiations. Wei tells Lin Shoulong that he will be replacing Zhao Jizheng as the contact person from now on. The leak originated from Lin Shoulong's office, leaving him shocked. Wei tells him to keep it a secret while they investigate.
Lin Shoulong suddenly collapses and is rushed to the hospital. He survives the surgery but isn't out of the woods yet. Gao Jianguo alerts Matt that the opportunity has arrived. Bai Keqing tells Luo Shanshan she can't reach Lin Yasheng and is worried. Luo Shanshan's mom shows up and calls her Tangtang, almost blowing her cover, but Luo Shanshan manages to smooth things over. Huo Min suspects foul play in Lin Shoulong's heart attack, and Luo Shanshan promises to investigate. Lin Yasheng is at the hospital with his father, and Bai Keqing arrives to comfort him, suggesting he's the only one Lin Shoulong trusts and should handle the negotiations himself.
