Spoiler Alert
Xia Wanqing & Zhuo Yue: The Bittersweet Goodbye
First off, we caught up with Xia Wanqing visiting Zhuo Yue in the hospital. Thanks to Zhang Ayi's dedicated care, Zhuo Yue is doing much better physically. But emotionally? Well, that's another story. It turns out his whole reason for pushing for a divorce was because he didn't want to be a burden on Xia Wanqing. Classic noble idiocy, right? Xia Wanqing, bless her heart, could see he wasn't going to budge, so she finally agreed to the divorce. But don't think she just rolled over! She laid down a couple of conditions: she gets to visit him whenever she wants, and she's footing the bill for Zhang Ayi's services. You go, Wanqing! It's a sad end to their marriage, but at least there's still a lot of care there.
Party Time & A New Project for Chen Meishu
Meanwhile, Feng Qingming decided it was time for a celebration! He gathered everyone, partly to toast Xia Wanqing's newfound single status (awkward much?) and partly to celebrate Ye Lang getting a girlfriend. Chen Meishu, however, was not amused. She couldn't understand why anyone would celebrate a divorce and was miffed because her original plan was for Feng Qingming to bring Qin Tianyue over for a quiet family dinner, not the whole gang. Feng Qingming tried to smooth things over, saying the company's been through a lot lately, and a get-together was just what everyone needed to unwind.
But Chen Meishu wasn't letting him off the hook that easily and started complaining about his own romantic life (or lack thereof, in her opinion) still being on the back burner. Just then, Qin Tianyue showed up looking for Chen Meishu, who promptly shooed Feng Qingming away. Turns out, Qin Tianyue needed a favor: Si Ting Ni (the company, presumably) is organizing a "sunset glow" matchmaking event – basically, a dating event for seniors – and Qin Tianyue, being a newbie in that department, desperately needed Chen Meishu's expertise.
Chen Meishu was actually thrilled to help and immediately suggested a ballroom dance party, figuring it would be a great way for folks to connect. Qin Tianyue thought it was a brilliant idea. Fast forward to the event, and it was a hit! The place was buzzing, seniors were all dressed up, and there was a real romantic, lively vibe.
Chen Meishu Catches Someone's Eye (and it's not who you think!)
While managing the event, Chen Meishu noticed a solitary gentleman, Bai Cheng. Being the warm person she is, she struck up a conversation. Bai Cheng is a retired senior engineer, doing pretty well for himself with a monthly pension of over 10,000 yuan. The catch? He's super introverted and can't dance, which is why he was parked in a corner. Chen Meishu, ever the encourager, invited him for a dance, offering to lead. Bai Cheng gave it a shot, and Chen Meishu's outgoing and generous nature clearly left a big impression.
So much so, that as soon as the dance wrapped up, Bai Cheng made a beeline for Qin Tianyue, signed up for a membership, and flat-out said he was interested in Chen Meishu! Now, this is where it gets tricky. Given Chen Meishu's "special status" (you know, being Feng Qingming's mom and all), everyone was a bit hesitant, unsure how Feng Qingming would feel about his mom finding a new beau. But they couldn't just ignore Bai Cheng's request. So, Qin Tianyue delegated the delicate task of arranging a meeting between Chen Meishu and Bai Cheng to her godson, Ye Lang, with strict instructions: Feng Qingming must not find out. Oh, the drama!
The Secret Date & Unwavering Affection
To make this happen, Qin Tianyue cleverly kept Feng Qingming busy with "work" at her place. Seizing the opportunity, Ye Lang went to Chen Meishu to feel her out about meeting Bai Cheng. Initially, Chen Meishu was not having it. But Ye Lang, playing his cards right, mentioned it was Qin Tianyue's idea, and that was enough to get Chen Meishu to agree.
The meeting happened, and Chen Meishu was very direct: she told Bai Cheng they weren't a good match, citing a "huge gap" between them. But Bai Cheng? This man is persistent. He was completely unfazed and made it clear he was serious about her. He even followed her to her choir practice, doting on her from the sidelines. Chen Meishu, clearly flustered and a bit embarrassed, had to drag him outside. But Bai Cheng wasn't backing down an inch and even presented her with a bouquet of flowers! You gotta admire his determination.
Confessions, Proposals, and a Date Gone Wrong
Back on the Feng Qingming front, after some serious grilling from his mom, he finally admitted his feelings for Qin Tianyue! Wasting no time, Chen Meishu marched straight to Qin Tianyue's parents and, in her typical straightforward manner, basically said, "I want your daughter as my daughter-in-law." And guess what? Qin Tianyue's parents are actually big fans of Feng Qingming and decided to play Cupid themselves!
To wrap up this packed episode, Si Ting Ni held another matchmaking event, this time for police officers and teachers. Sparks flew instantly between Officer Liu Yuhui and a teacher named Miao Miao – love at first sight, folks! They went on a date, dinner, and were about to catch a movie when Liu Yuhui spotted a known repeat offender. Duty called, and he took off after the criminal, leaving poor Miao Miao in the dust. Talk about a date interruption!
