Episode Summary
Yang Guang infiltrates James's office, copies files, and discovers a safe, narrowly avoiding detection. Meanwhile, a corporate deal involving James's company, Lide, and partners Huaze and Taiyu, includes an upcoming visit to the Lianhai Nuclear Power Plant. Li Jian and Tian Ziwei continue surveillance on Luca, while Xie Xiaoman secretly contacts a publisher about Luca's non-existent manuscript. James has Zhao Yaning pick up a mysterious package, which she does covertly. The Lianhai trip is suddenly moved up, causing James to seek help from his boss "Jing" to transport sensitive items (special chips he removes from electronics). The authorities arrange a chartered flight for the trip, hoping to inspect James's package. As they depart, Yang Guang notices Taylor is missing and orders a search.
Spoiler Alert
So, our main man Yang Guang kicked things off with a classic spy move. He slipped into James's office, slick as you please, disabling surveillance like a pro. His mission? Get the goods from James's computer. He started copying files and then, jackpot! He spotted a courier box and, even better, a safe. You just know whatever's in there is crucial.
Meanwhile, the corporate bigwigs – Lide (that's James's company), Huaze, and Taiyu – were busy signing a preliminary strategic cooperation deal. The plan? A visit to the Lianhai Nuclear Power Plant in three days to check out some fancy fourth-gen nuclear tech. This, of course, puts a serious deadline on Yang Guang. His tech support even chimed in, saying he had about 40 minutes, tops, to do his thing. The safe, though? Super complex. Even the tech guys couldn't crack it remotely. Talk about pressure!
Just as James was about to walk back in, Yang Guang made a dive for the stairwell, barely avoiding a face-to-face. Can you imagine the awkwardness? James did his usual sweep of the office, checked the safe, and seemed satisfied. Phew, close one, Yang Guang!
Side-Eye on Luca and Xie Xiaoman
Over on another surveillance front, Li Jian and Tian Ziwei were still keeping tabs on Luca's place from their car. Yang Guang called in, super concerned about Xie Xiaoman's safety, worried Luca might do something rash. Xie Xiaoman then conveniently decided she needed to "go to the market." Riiight. Turns out, she was actually calling a publishing house about a book manuscript from Luca. The publisher? "Luca who? Never got a manuscript." Sketchy! Li Jian, observing from a distance, couldn't hear the call but definitely noticed Xie Xiaoman was totally out of it and looking stressed. Tian Ziwei did some digging and confirmed the call was indeed to a publisher. What's the story there, Xie Xiaoman?
The Mysterious Package Shuffle
Back to James. He got another notification for a package pickup. This time, he sent Zhao Yaning to fetch it. Yang Guang, ever the bloodhound, tailed James, suspecting he might be going for it himself, and had his tech team, specifically Ma Jie, use the "Sky Eye" system to track Zhao Yaning. But Zhao Yaning is slippery! She drove into a high-end women's club, a blind spot for the surveillance. So, Yang Guang had Ma Jie hustle over to the club.
James, meanwhile, was just casually strolling through a mall, making Yang Guang think Zhao Yaning was definitely the one making the pickup. And he was right. By the time Ma Jie got to the club, Zhao Yaning had already disguised herself, switched cars, and grabbed the package without raising any alarms. She then drove back to the Lide Group, with Ma Jie tailing her, none the wiser about the switch.
Zhao Yaning handed the package to James. She tried asking what was inside (girl, same!), but James was all "need to know basis, and you don't." He just said he'd bring "these things" to Lianhai.
Plot Twist: The Lianhai Trip is NOW!
Just when you thought things couldn't get more intense, Xiang Taisheng from the Taiyu Group called. Apparently, Taiyu's Manager Li was super eager to see that high-temperature gas-cooled reactor tech in action and wanted to move the Lianhai visit up... to tomorrow. Cue the dramatic music! Lide Group was basically told to get ready, pronto.
The Investigation Stalls, A New Plan Brews
Yang Guang and Ma Jie regrouped at State Security Section 3, but the tech team hadn't found anything juicy on James's computer – just standard business files. Ugh, so frustrating! Yang Guang's superior, Zhang Baiqing, laid down the law: catching spies is vital, but so is the project. Without concrete proof, they couldn't risk blowing up this major deal.
So, Yang Guang decided on a new strategy: "remain still to counter movement" – basically, play it cool and let James make the next move. The new plan? Zhang Baiqing got approval for the Huaze Group to charter a private plane to take all the partners to Lianhai. The genius part? This would give them a prime opportunity to search James's mysterious package. Sneaky, sneaky!
James Rattled, Calls for Backup
That night, James was packing up his precious parcel when Zhao Yaning called with the news about the chartered flight. This clearly threw him for a loop. He immediately called his boss – codenamed "Jing" (which means Whale, interesting!) – to report the change of plans and asked for Jing's help to get "the stuff" to Lianhai. After the call, James started taking special chips out of various electronics and packing them into a laptop and a box. What in the world are those chips for?! This is getting good!
To the Airport, But Someone's Missing...
The next morning, it was all systems go. Zhao Yaning, James, and the crew headed to Yanping Airport. Yang Guang was glued to the surveillance feeds. Just before taking off, Zhao Yaning sent Yang Guang a text letting him know about her business trip (is she playing both sides, or just being professional?). But then, Yang Guang noticed something – or rather, someone – was missing: Taylor. Where's Taylor?! Yang Guang immediately tasked Ma Jie with finding out Taylor's whereabouts.
And that, my friends, is where they leave us hanging! What are those chips? Will they manage to inspect James's package on the plane? And what's the deal with Taylor's disappearing act? This show knows how to keep us guessing! Can't wait to see what happens next.
