Mie Zui Episode 7 Recap & Spoilers: Things Get Personal

Just when the police thought they might be getting a handle on things, boom – another body drops. This time, the victim is a man named Zhao Weiguo. And yep, you guessed it, the killer left that same signature mark nearby. But here's the first curveball: the crime scene isn't Zhao Weiguo's home. Detective Cao Jin is scratching his head, wondering why this guy was killed here, in a different residential complex entirely.

Right on cue, a woman in the complex spots the body and completely freaks out. Seeing her reaction, Cao Jin figures she knows something and brings her down to the station. Her name is Li Jing, and it turns out she had registered an account on that shady "Abyss" website. Why? Because she had been raped and felt too scared or ashamed to report it, so she vented her trauma online. The kicker? The man she accused on the site, the man who raped her, was none other than Zhao Weiguo. It looks like "Abyss" took her online complaint as a kill order and actually carried it out. Vigilante justice via the dark web? Yikes.

As if things weren't wild enough, Cao Jin gets a call from "Abyss" itself. Talk about bold – the killer is actively taunting the police now. Tech whiz Tao Zi scrambles to trace the call's IP address, but by the time the cops race to the location, their mysterious caller is long gone.

Thinking fast, Cao Jin dials the number "Abyss" called from. Surprise! A phone starts ringing from inside the very building they're in, leading them to a hidden room. Detective Ning Zhen follows the sound and finds a pitch-black photo developing darkroom. And inside? Another dead man. It seems "Abyss" used this new victim's phone to make that taunting call to Cao Jin. The darkroom is plastered with photos, and Tao Zi spots a chilling one: it's Li Jing, the witness from earlier. This "Abyss" operation is getting creepier and more complex by the minute.

Meanwhile, Ning Zhen and Lu Fan are digging into old clues, specifically from the "Cangbei Nude Corpse Case." Their investigation leads them to a crucial connection: Wu Feifei's daughter, Wu Keran, had also posted on the "Abyss" website, mentioning that she was being followed. (Remember, Wu Feifei was previously implicated as a killer).

Ning Zhen and Lu Fan track down Wu Keran. Life hasn't been easy for her; constantly bullied because everyone believed her father was a murderer, she never bought it. She remembers her dad acting strangely the night he disappeared. He called late, saying he had things to do and would be home later, but he never returned. Wu Keran, bless her heart, has kept paying his phone bill all this time, clinging to the hope that one day he might call back. As they talk, Ning Zhen clocks someone suspicious lurking near Wu Keran's flower shop. Sensing danger, Ning Zhen and Lu Fan decide not to leave, instead setting up surveillance outside the shop.

Back at the station, the tech department cracks the darkroom victim's computer. Turns out, this guy had a nasty side hustle: collecting women's personal information and apartment keys, then packaging and selling them online. And guess whose photo Cao Jin spots among the files? Wu Keran. Her info and keys were just sold. They even manage to get the buyer's information. Cao Jin immediately dispatches teams.

Cao Jin checks on Wu Keran first and finds her seemingly safe at home, watching TV. He decides to have his team wait downstairs. Suddenly, Wu Keran hears someone trying to open her front door! She throws herself against it, trying to keep the intruder out. Just in the nick of time, Tao Zi and his team burst onto the scene... only to find Ning Zhen on the other side of the door! What?!

But wait, there's more! At that exact moment, another figure – a man dressed in black – appears, sees the police, and bolts. The chase is on! This man in black (presumably the real "Abyss" operative or the buyer?) tries to melt into a crowd of young people outside, but Cao Jin intercepts him. Cornered, the man makes a desperate run for it.

While the chase ensues outside, Wu Keran lets the unexpected Ning Zhen into her apartment. And then, Lu Fan emerges from inside Wu Keran's place, escorting another man (likely the guy who bought her keys and was planning to attack). It seems Ning Zhen and Lu Fan were running their own protective detail, maybe even anticipating the attack.

The fleeing man in black runs himself into a dead end, literally. Trapped, with police closing in, he has no choice but to surrender.

So, Episode 7 ends with one "Abyss" suspect caught red-handed after a chaotic showdown at Wu Keran's apartment, revealing multiple layers of investigation and danger converging all at once. Phew! What a ride. Can't wait to see how they unravel this next!
