My Doctor: Episode 11

Spoiler Alert

First off, our hearts collectively ached for Xiao Xia as her grandpa, Shi Laoshi, found himself back in the community hospital. It was just for a check-up, but the poor man was clearly in some pain. Xiao Xia, bless her, was worried sick, asking Zhao Dongcheng if her grandpa would ever get better. Dongcheng, ever the rock, reassured her and, more importantly, promised he'd stick by them. We love a supportive doc!

Meanwhile, Shen Xinxin took Guan Xu on a house call that turned out to be a real eye-opener for him. They visited Xiao Yu, a young girl with a mental disorder who lives with her devoted father. Turns out, Xinxin has been making these annual visits for a while, and this particular day was not only a consultation day but also Xiao Yu's father's birthday! Xinxin, being the sweetheart she is, brought a gift for the dad, and the man was genuinely touched. It was a beautiful moment, and for Guan Xu, it was like a lightbulb went off. He finally got it – community doctors like Xinxin and Dongcheng might not be performing life-saving surgeries every day, but their role in accompanying and safeguarding the health of their community is absolutely vital. They’re the unsung heroes, folks!

Now, for some simmering tension! Guan Xu, clearly nursing a bit of a crush (or at least some serious possessiveness) over Yu Shi, went to her place for a study session, only to find out from Yu Shi's mom that she was out with... dun dun dun... Xiao Han! Oh, Guan Xu was not having it. He stormed off, found them, and basically strong-armed Xiao Han into a badminton match, claiming it was to get "revenge" for Zhao Dongcheng. Riiiight. Just as things were heating up on the court, who shows up but Zhao Dongcheng himself, with Xiao Xia in tow. Apparently, Shi Laoshi, feeling like a burden, didn't want Xiao Xia cooped up with him all the time.

The badminton showdown between Guan Xu and Xiao Han was pretty intense, with Guan Xu actually clinching the win! Post-match, words were exchanged, and it almost came to blows before Zhao Dongcheng stepped in. And here’s the kicker: Xiao Han is the one who’s been trying to poach Zhao Dongcheng from the community hospital! He just can't stand seeing Dongcheng "wasting his talents" in such a small place. But Dongcheng stood his ground, arguing that while some doctors save lives in emergencies, others are needed to be there for the elderly in the community. Plus, all his friends and old neighbors are there – it's his home. You tell him, Dongcheng!

In a slightly more chaotic turn of events, Yu Shi's mom had a bit of an accident. Her door was broken, rain got in, and she slipped and fell. The gang – Shen Xinxin and the others – all rushed over to help. They cleaned up, cooked a meal, and had a big group dinner. It was all very wholesome until everyone started realizing they were playing gooseberry. Zhang Jun and Shen Xinxin made their excuses and left. Zhao Dongcheng, ever the strategist (or maybe just wanting to give the youngsters some space?), made Guan Xu an offer: mop the floor for a month, and he'd leave right then and there. Guan Xu, eager to stay and help Yu Shi look after her mom, actually agreed! So, he stayed behind, playing caregiver.

Back at the hospital, Shi Laoshi was clearly missing the outside world, reminiscing about his more independent days. Zhao Dongcheng, who happened to overhear him sharing these thoughts with Xiao Xia, had a sweet idea. While he and Xiao Xia were grabbing a bite at Chun Jie's rice noodle shop, he gave Xiao Xia a small audio recorder. The mission? To capture the sounds of the outside world for her grandpa to listen to. How thoughtful is that?

And finally, we got some cute, slightly awkward moments with Guan Xu trying his best to care for Yu Shi's mom. Being a young guy, his habits were a bit... much for her, especially his rather liberal use of tissues. But then, he did something completely unexpected and endearing: he peeled a whole bunch of melon seeds for her. Yu Shi's mom was genuinely surprised, and honestly, so were we! Maybe there's a softie under that brash exterior after all.
