The Seven Relics of Ill Omen, Episode 11 Recap: A Sinner's Past and a Mountain of Monsters
The latest episode of "The Seven Relics of Ill Omen" takes the crew deep into the ominous Moon Mountain, where a dark confession and a monstrous new threat change everything. Secrets that were long buried are unearthed—literally—and the team finds themselves fighting for their lives against a mysterious beast.
A Journey into Darkness and a Chilling Prophecy
The episode opens with Old Master Yan, his granddaughter Yan Hongsha, and Mu Dai catching a ride on a mule cart with a local named Zha Ma. They are heading back to Qiju Village, but their true destination is the infamous Moon Mountain. Zha Ma warns them that the mountain is treacherous and home to "Wild Men," but Old Master Yan, driven by his quest for a hidden treasure, dismisses the warning.
Their first stop is Zha Ma's home, where his mother, a woman with shamanistic abilities, takes an interest in Mu Dai. She gifts Mu Dai a colored string for luck in love but delivers a chilling prophecy after reading her fortune: she sees "two Mu Dais," and warns that "the one who remains will not be the her she is now," hinting at a dark turn for Mu Dai's identity.
Ominous Signs and a Sudden Arrival
Upon reaching the desolate mountain village, Yan Hongsha notices that the "Sunny Day Dolls"—small talismans hanging on every door—bear a striking resemblance to the relics they are hunting. The sense of dread deepens when Mu Dai, fetching water from a well, is horrified to see one of the dolls floating on the surface.
Just as the tension mounts, Luo Ren makes a sudden and unexpected appearance, having been contacted by Zha Ma. His arrival immediately draws the intense, silent scrutiny of Zha Ma's mother, whose meaningful gaze suggests she knows more about him than she lets on. While the group is distracted, Old Master Yan pulls his granddaughter aside, cryptically telling her that the treasure they seek requires "the aura of blood" to contain its power.
A Murderous Confession Unearthed
The next day, the group discovers the Sunny Day Doll from the well has vanished. They rush to the spot where Old Master Yan claims his treasure is buried. As Yan Hongsha begins to dig under his direction, with Mu Dai keeping watch from a treetop, she unearths not treasure, but human bones.
Horrified and unable to continue, she confronts her grandfather. Backed into a corner, Old Master Yan confesses his terrible secret: years ago, on a previous expedition, he murdered his partner to claim the treasure for himself. He buried the body right on top of the treasure, believing a blood sacrifice was necessary to contain its powerful aura.
As his granddaughter reels from the confession, Mu Dai, looking through her binoculars, spots Luo Ren and his team, Yi Wan San and Cao Yanhua, making their way up the mountain. She realizes they are following a trail of markers, but Luo Ren's team has discovered that some of the markers are fakes, indicating a third, unknown party is also in the mountains and trying to mislead them.
Attack of the Wild Man
With the truth revealed, Yan Hongsha and Mu Dai help open the cover of the treasure pit, only for Old Master Yan to cry out in shock: the skeleton is gone. Before they can process this, a monstrous, hairy creature attacks the group. Yan Hongsha screams that it's one of the "Wild Men" Zha Ma warned them about.Mu Dai bravely lures the creature away, giving the others a chance to escape.
Obsessed with the missing corpse, Old Master Yan accidentally shouts incriminating details of his past crime. In that moment of shock and confusion, the Wild Man strikes again, seizing the old man and dragging him away. Mu Dai gives chase and fights the beast with all her strength but is quickly overpowered. Just as the creature's hands close around her throat, a knife flies through the air, forcing it back. Luo Ren has arrived. With Yi Wan San using a torch to scare the beast away, they rescue a near-death Mu Dai. The creature retreats into the dark woods, its roars echoing from the mountains, a clear sign that the danger is far from over.
