After her taxi departs, she navigates through the overgrown weeds, her eyes drawn upward. There, on the roof, she sees her mother, Li Xiulan. Before Li Yan can process the scene, she witnesses the unthinkable: Li Xiulan shoves a man off the edge of the building. Stifling a scream, Li Yan hides, recognizing the falling man as Bai Tao. Li Meng’s chilling words echo in her mind—"Bai Tao will die today"—confirming this was the location for his secret and fatal exchange with Li Xiulan.
A Vicious Showdown
When Li Yan stumbles home in a daze, she finds Li Meng calmly tending to her fish tank. Li Meng’s casual questions about where she’s been are met with silence. A cold smile spreads across Li Meng’s face as she spots the mud on Li Yan’s shoes; she knows Li Yan saw everything and didn't call the police.
Li Yan demands to know how Li Meng knew what would happen, insisting on their mother's innocence. Li Meng's composure shatters. Initially disbelieving, she breaks down and begins smashing things in her apartment as the grim reality of Qin Yang's tone sinks in.

Consumed by rage and grief, Bai Fan storms out of her apartment. As she reaches a corner in the dimly lit hallway, a wooden club swings out from the shadows, striking her hard on the back of the head. She collapses to the floor as the dark figure vanishes. At the same moment, Qin Yang drives away from the crime scene. In his rearview mirror, he catches a glimpse of a faint silhouette on the rooftop—the very spot where Li Xiulan sent Bai Tao to his death.
