Episode Summary
In this episode, Xiao Ye brutally ends his relationship with Shen Zhile to continue his life in a gang. After Shen Yanqing saves Xiu Ju from a fire, they confess their feelings and decide to marry. Their wedding is dramatically interrupted by the return of Shen Yanzhou, Shen Yanqing's brother and Xiu Ju's former love. The episode opens on two separate, fraught relationships. Xiao Ye, a gangster nursing a wound, is called by his boss for a turf war. His romantic interest, Shen Zhile, arrives and insists he stay, reminding him of their plan to discuss a script. In a harsh rejection, Xiao Ye rips up the script, declaring they are from different worlds. He tells her he's a gangster with no future and has no time for her "love games." He orders her to leave and never return, leaving Shen Zhile heartbroken and vowing to ignore him from now on.
Meanwhile, Xiu Ju's leadership of the Orange Grove is flourishing, earning her the respect of the clan members. Her bond with Shen Yanqing deepens, much to the quiet sorrow of Zhuang Hui, who watches them together. The simmering romance ignites when a fire breaks out in the workshop. With Xiu Ju trapped inside, Shen Yanqing rushes into the inferno without a second thought and carries her out, his focus entirely on her safety.
After the rescue, a tender moment unfolds. As Xiu Ju awakens to find Shen Yanqing watching over her, she is moved by his devotion. She finally accepts his feelings, asking him to place a hairpin he once gifted her into her hair. They agree to leave the past behind and look toward a future together.
Their happiness leads Shen Yanqing to arrange a formal wedding ceremony to properly make Xiu Ju his wife. However, the celebration comes to a stunning halt with the sudden return of Shen Yanzhou, Shen Yanqing's brother, who was presumed lost. The wedding is forgotten as the family, including a weeping Shen Yanqing, rushes to embrace him.
Amid the joyous reunion, a powerful tension builds. Xiu Ju stands frozen, locking eyes with Shen Yanzhou as tears fall, while the scheming Liu Ruyan watches, anticipating the drama to come. Shen Yanzhou explains he was rescued by a family and has been managing their business affairs. Later, he is seen alone, treasuring a dried orange blossom—a symbol of Xiu Ju—revealing his feelings for her have not faded.
The next day, Shen Yanzhou confronts Xiu Ju in the orange grove, confessing that the hope of seeing her again was the only thing that kept him alive. Bound by her new reality, Xiu Ju tells him they must not meet again outside of business matters. The episode culminates in a new conflict between the brothers. Shen Yanqing challenges Shen Yanzhou's knowledge of oranges, leading to a high-stakes bet: they will each plant an orange tree, and whoever loses must abandon everything related to oranges forever, setting the stage for a bitter rivalry for both the grove and Xiu Ju's heart.
