Li Xian as Jiang Changyang
Jiang Changyang serves as the Hua Niao Shi (a special envoy) and concurrently holds the post of junior minister at the Court of Imperial Entertainments. On the surface, he presents himself as a carefree, pleasure-seeking official, but this is merely a well-crafted facade. In reality, Jiang Changyang is kind-hearted, brave, and highly resourceful, possessing a deep commitment to justice and the well-being of the nation.
Having entered the palace as a boy, he grew up alongside the emperor and earned his unwavering trust. He uses this position to secretly carry out a critical mission for the court: eliminating corrupt officials.
His life takes a new turn in Luoyang when he meets He Weifang. Captivated by her unique character, he finds himself drawn into her life and circumstances. Wei Zheming as Liu Chang
Portrayed by Wei Zheming, Liu Chang comes from a family of officials. His handsome exterior conceals a hypocritical, cruel, and cowardly nature. Defined by his selfishness and chauvinism, he is ultimately an incompetent man.
He was once mutually in love with the Princess of Ji'an, but they were forced to separate due to their difference in social status. Following his parents' arrangement, he marries He Weifang, a merchant's daughter he does not want for a wife. After their divorce, he grows intensely jealous of a man named Jiang Changyang and attempts to take revenge on the two of them.
Zhang Yaqin as Li Youzhen
With a striking appearance, Li Youzhen carries herself with the arrogance befitting her noble status. However, beneath this haughty exterior lies a woman of remarkable courage and conviction in matters of the heart. Unbroken by an unhappy marriage, she refuses to surrender to despair, maintaining her belief in love and bravely continuing its pursuit.
This same fierce determination, however, becomes her undoing. Her personality is marred by a vicious and manipulative streak. When faced with romantic challenges, her obsessive nature throws her off balance, ultimately leading her down a dark path where love curdles into a destructive jealousy.
