In the Name of Blossom, Episode 1: A Scheme for Love and Power
After marrying Jiang Changyang, He Weifang enjoys a blissful relationship with her husband. She pours her energy into managing her shop, which is flourishing. To celebrate, she hosts a banquet for her staff, with Changyang by her side. Their loving bond is evident to all.
However, not everyone is pleased. Lianzhou, jealous of Weifang's favored position, decides to stir up trouble. She publicly accuses Dafu, Weifang's loyal maid, of stealing her jewelry. Dafu, who has been staying at the shop with Weifang, is stunned by the false accusation. Lianzhou pressures her to blame Weifang for the theft, but Dafu staunchly refuses to betray her mistress. Enraged, Lianzhou orders her own maids to slap Dafu.
Pushed to her limit, Dafu grabs a fruit knife from a table, intending only to frighten Lianzhou. But just as Jiang Changyang's footsteps are heard outside, Lianzhou seizes the opportunity. She deliberately grabs the blade, injuring her own hand. When Changyang enters, he sees Dafu holding the knife and Lianzhou presenting her bleeding palm, playing the victim.
Changyang, however, is not easily fooled. He takes Dafu aside and gets the full story. Realizing the truth, he doesn't shield Lianzhou and instead conspires with Weifang to teach her a lesson.
Weifang enacts her plan, using a secret remedy to cause Lianzhou to break out in an unsightly rash. Desperate after several doctors fail to cure her, the usually arrogant Lianzhou secretly goes to Weifang's door to beg for help. Weifang seizes the moment, demanding to know if the matter of the "stolen" jewelry has been settled. Lianzhou quickly admits it was all a misunderstanding and has nothing to do with Dafu. But a simple admission isn't enough; Weifang makes her apologize to Dafu by slapping her own face. With this, Dafu's grievance is finally settled, and her admiration for Weifang's courage grows.
Weifang then opens her door and confronts Lianzhou directly. She explains that she has no desire to be her enemy and is focused only on her business. She advises Lianzhou to find her own purpose rather than living solely to compete for a man's affection. While applying medicine to the rash, Weifang speaks to her about a woman's path to self-reliance. Lianzhou, though only half-understanding, remains convinced that Changyang's affection for Weifang is genuine, which leaves Weifang to wonder if her "pretend" relationship with her husband has become a little too real.
Meanwhile, a subplot unfolds involving another woman, Xiaochun, who has a passion for acupuncture. With the full support of Weifang and Dafu, Xiaochun begins practicing medicine disguised as a man. She quickly gains a great reputation, with many seeking out her healing skills.
