Episode Summary

In the series finale, Gao Feng and Wu Feifei confront Wu Guohao on an abandoned cruise ship. Wu Guohao reveals the brutal details of his past crimes against their parents. The police surround the vessel. Wu Guohao attempts a final standoff but is shot dead by snipers. The survivors, including a recovered Xu Zhiyang and Zhang Jing, finally find peace and move on with their lives.

The Hospital Aftermath

We start with Zhang Jing. She suffered a mild stroke. Gao Feng didn't waste time. He got her to the hospital immediately. She wakes up two days later. The guilt is eating her alive because she finally knows what Gao Dahua did. She expects Gao Feng to hate her. He doesn't. He knows she always treated him like a son. He refuses to hold her husband's sins against her.

Wu Feifei is technically safe with the police. But Wu Guohao has resources. He can find anyone. Gao Feng knows this. He asks the cops to move her to a different room. He is taking zero chances.

Preparing for the Meet

Gao Feng has a plan to meet Wu Guohao. He only tells Long Yu at first. Long Yu thinks it is a suicide mission. A cornered animal bites, and Wu Guohao is definitely cornered. Gao Feng doesn't care. He is done being the orphan who lets life happen to him. He wants to take control.

He visits Feifei in her new room. He brings fresh bedding. He is fussing over her and the baby. Feifei isn't stupid. She finds a watch in the bag. She realizes he is saying goodbye. She confronts him. He admits he is meeting Wu Guohao. She refuses to stay behind. She needs to know how her father, Yang Wenyuan, really died.

Gao Feng agrees. But he learned his lesson about going rogue. He loops in Su Min. The police realize Wu Guohao is too dangerous to leave roaming free. The order comes down. Take him in.

The Dinner Party from Hell

The meeting spot is the old cruise ship at the International Club. It is a ghost ship now. Gao Feng and Feifei arrive. The scene is bizarre. There are empty chairs set up around a table. Wu Guohao is talking to the air.

To him, the chairs aren't empty. He sees his victims. Yang Wenyuan, Xu Bin, Gao Dahua, Li Hongyue, and Qu Meng are all there in his mind. He is hosting a party for the people he killed. He lights candles on a cake. He says it is a birthday party for Gao Feng and Feifei. He claims he is leaving Binchuan after this.

Gao Feng shuts that fantasy down. Wu Guohao tries one last trick. He pulls out a DNA report. He claims he isn't related to Feifei. He thinks this absolves him. Gao Feng isn't buying it. He anticipated this move.

The Ugly Truth of the 90s

We finally get the full story. It is sick. Back in the early 90s, Wu Guohao had his thugs beat Yang Wenyuan. They dragged him to this same cruise ship. Wu Guohao forced Yang to watch him assault Qu Meng. That assault resulted in a pregnancy.

Yang Wenyuan fought back. He managed to knock one of Wu Guohao's teeth out. That sealed his fate. Wu Guohao shoved the tooth into Yang's mouth. He beat Yang to death right there. Wu Guohao thinks he can wash his hands of this. He thinks denying the blood relation fixes it. But Gao Feng and Feifei are living proof of his crimes.

Justice Served

The police swarm the boat. They find a bomb and clear the area. Snipers take their positions. Wu Guohao grabs Feifei. He uses her as a shield. Then he stops. He lets her go. He raises his gun at Gao Feng.

He never pulls the trigger. The police shoot him first. Wu Guohao dies on the deck. He chose death over prison.

The nightmare is over. We get a montage of happy endings. Xu Zhiyang wakes up from his coma. He reunites with Feifei and they wait for their baby. Zhang Jing recovers fully. She joins a tour group to see the world. Gao Feng sees her off at the station. He is finally free.
