The rebellion has been quashed, and King Ning is now a prisoner awaiting his fate. In a desperate bid to escape capital punishment, Liu Chang stands before the Emperor and provides a detailed account of King Ning's crimes. His testimony seals the King's fate; the Emperor orders King Ning's immediate execution. Liu Chang's life is spared, but he is sentenced to exile and stripped of his titles, reduced to a commoner. As he accepts his punishment, he makes one final plea: for the Emperor to show mercy and spare Li Youzhen's life.
That night, a conflicted Li Youzhen approaches Liu Chang with a dagger. She is torn apart by the fact that the man who once served her father was the one to betray him. Sensing her presence, Liu Chang, who was not asleep, coldly asks why she hesitates. Overcome with emotion, Li Youzhen tearfully questions his betrayal.
With a bitter smile, Liu Chang recounts the tragic path his life has taken since aligning with King Ning. He speaks of falling in love with her, losing a leg, and being forced into a life of crime and constant fear under her father's command, which made him feel like a "living dead" man. Hearing his painful confession, Li Youzhen's resolve shatters, and she drops the dagger, weeping.
With peace restored in Chang'an, Liu Chang and Li Youzhen walk through the bustling streets under the warm sun. He takes her hand, filled with hope, and promises to spend a quiet and happy life with her. For a moment, seeing the genuine smile on his face, Li Youzhen believes they can truly start over. However, their newfound hope is brutally extinguished when a small, crazed beggar rushes towards them and stabs Liu Chang, shouting, "The villain is dead! There will be peace in the world!"
The dagger strikes Liu Chang directly in the heart, leaving no hope for survival.
Meanwhile, He Weifang and Jiang Changyang finally find their peaceful and happy ending.After completing their duties, they decide to leave the capital and travel the country. At Fang Garden, their friends try to create opportunities for a grand proposal, but it's clear to everyone that their hearts are already one.
The couple embarks on their new life together. He Weifang continues her work as a merchant, opening pharmacies and practicing medicine to help those in need, while Jiang Changyang, on a secret mission from the Emperor, investigates local officials for corruption.They work in perfect harmony, a seamless team. The Emperor often receives gifts and reports from Jiang Changyang, a system that benefits them all. In their leisure time, they enjoy the simple pleasures of life, like admiring flowers in the countryside, cherishing the hard-won peace they now share.
