When Han Yuhang returns home, his father and brother, Han Changzhou, are overcome with relief after having lost contact with him completely. They press him for details about his disappearance, but Yuhang simply offers a cryptic smile and a flimsy excuse about being at sea with a classmate, which caused his phone to lose its signal. His noticeably changed demeanor doesn't escape his brother's notice. Later, Yuhang confronts Changzhou directly, warning him to stay away from Tang Xin and making it clear that he is aware of his brother's illicit activities. Changzhou attempts to act nonchalant in the face of the threat.

Meanwhile, Tang Xin emails her informant to update them on the progress of her investigation in the islands. The informant is pleased with her genuine efforts and agrees to a full partnership. Her safe return to the country is a profound shock to Han Changzhou and his father, who had previously arranged to sell her to human traffickers. After a frantic phone call to a woman named Wei Yinglian, they learn that Tang Xin was abducted by pirates and subsequently rescued. Wu Si later meets with Tang Xin, advising her to be more cautious for her own safety, but she insists that she will not change her methods.

The mood at the hospital is somber. Bai Zijian does his best to comfort Wang Chen, who is devastated by the news that his Achilles tendon injury is so severe he will never be able to return to the special forces team. Unable to accept his new reality, Wang Chen insists on beginning his physical rehabilitation immediately, against his doctor's orders. Wu Si arrives just in time to de-escalate the situation and temporarily calm him down. Tang Xin also visits Wang Chen to apologize, consumed with guilt because he was injured while saving her.

Zong Qing and Lan Yangyang are navigating a difficult period with tenderness. Zong Qing is exceptionally caring, acting as if the miscarriage never happened to protect Yangyang, who still harbors feelings of guilt. Her parents, the Lan Weiguo couple, worry that Zong Qing is too young to handle the gravity of the situation. The fragile peace is shattered when Yangyang receives a letter from the hospital with the results of her amniocentesis test: the baby was perfectly healthy. This news sends her into a fresh spiral of grief. When Zong Qing tells Wu Si and Tang Xin about the miscarriage, Tang Xin becomes distraught and wants to rush to her friend's side, but the men convince her that her presence would only add to the turmoil.
