Episode Summary
In this episode, an escape attempt by the captive women fails, resulting in a sinister plot to eliminate them. "Rosefinch" Episode 27
An escape plan, orchestrated by Li Huimin, goes awry. Shen Ruchun fakes an illness to create a diversion, allowing the women to neutralize the guards. However, their bid for freedom is cut short as they run directly into a trap laid by Commander Zhao Jin and Sun Mei.In a humiliating display of power, Zhao Jin tosses a collar at Shen Ruchun's feet and watches as she is forced to put it on. He then summons Gao Susheng, who suggests a chilling solution: send the women to America, a plan that is merely a cover for murdering them.
Meanwhile, Gao Ying's secret investigation yields a major breakthrough. She sneaks into her father's study and finds a map concealed behind a picture frame.
The city of Shanghai remains in the grip of stock market fever. Xia Yingqi is dismayed as he watches citizens either frantically buy stocks or, having lost everything, resort to suicide. His attempts to intervene are useless against the public's speculative madness. During this time, Gao Fei follows Xia Yingqi to the Red Moon House. Song Mama and the girls bravely protect the Xia siblings, with Bao Rui defiantly facing Gao Fei's gun without revealing their hiding place.
After Gao Fei departs, Song Mama discovers all her girls have bought stocks. She sternly warns them against despair if they lose their money, remarking that in all her years in Shanghai, she has never seen the rich willingly give money to the poor. A new plan is formed by Yang Zezhi, Gao Ying, Xia Mo, and Tang Zhenyun. They decide to use a secret projection room in a private house to plant a listening device, hoping to capture incriminating conversations that will serve as the key evidence to topple Zhao Jin and his cohorts.
Gao Ying and A Hu proceed to No. 25 Huian Li, where they meet Xia Mo to install the device via a hidden passage. Their mission is violently interrupted when Gao Fei ambushes them, holding Zuo Ping hostage. To ensure Zuo Ping's safety, Gao Ying drops her weapon. Hidden in the passage, Xia Mo and Tang Zhenyun create a clever diversion, tricking a member of the Qingzhu Gang into thinking they've been caught. In the ensuing chaos, Gao Ying seizes her moment, stabbing and killing Gao Fei, finally avenging her sister, Gao Yue, and the other murdered girls.
