Episode Summary
A plan for Jiang Qiaoxi and Ying Tao to meet in secret is successful, but their moment is cut short by a jealous classmate's scheme to expose them. In a desperate attempt to give Jiang Qiaoxi and Ying Tao a moment alone, their friends devise a clever plan. Qin Yeyun contacts Yu Qiao for help, and Cai Fangyuan musters the courage to intercept Jiang Qiaoxi in front of the watchful Aunt Liang. Cai Fangyuan tells a white lie, claiming that Teacher He needs Jiang Qiaoxi to pick up study materials from the office. Although suspicious, Aunt Liang is called away on urgent business and instructs her driver to take Jiang Qiaoxi to the school before returning him to the training camp.
The plan nearly unravels when they run into Teacher He, who confirms he never asked for any materials. Just as Jiang Qiaoxi is forced back into the car, Yu Qiao and Ying Tao come running after them. In a surprising act of kindness, the driver pulls over, announcing he's taking a half-hour break to eat noodles. This gives Jiang Qiaoxi and Ying Tao the precious time they were hoping for. They find a quiet alley where Ying Tao shares food her mother made, and the two enjoy a simple meal together.
Unfortunately, their private moment is witnessed by a jealous Cen Xiaoman. Furious, she first tries to convince their teacher to remove Ying Tao from Class 18. When the teacher instead encourages her to befriend and help Ying Tao, Cen Xiaoman decides to take matters into her own hands. She plots to ruin Ying Tao's reputation by sending two female classmates to catch the pair in the alley and expose them.
Alerted by Yu Qiao's group, Ying Tao and Jiang Qiaoxi make a hasty escape just before the two girls arrive to find the alley empty. In the chaos of their getaway, with Ying Tao riding on Jiang Qiaoxi's shoulders, they are startled by a dog and run directly into the path of an electric scooter. The crash leaves Jiang Qiaoxi with a bleeding head wound, and the sight of blood causes Ying Tao to faint.
The driver rushes them to the hospital, where Jiang Qiaoxi receives stitches for his injury. A guilt-ridden Ying Tao apologizes relentlessly until Manager Jiang (Qiaoxi's father) arrives and comforts her. Back at school, Cen Xiaoman is in tears, overwhelmed with worry for Jiang Qiaoxi. Aware of the situation, Yu Qiao and Qin Yeyun warn Ying Tao that she might face hostility from the other girls in her dorm, but Ying Tao is no longer afraid and resolves to face the consequences head-on.
The incident prompts major confrontations. Jiang Qiaoxi firmly tells his father he will no longer submit to his mother's threats and is determined to be friends with Ying Tao openly, just as they were in childhood. He even threatens to report his mother for abuse of power if she follows through on her threat to have Ying Tao's parents transferred to a construction site in Fujian. In a parallel show of strength, Ying Tao directly confronts Cen Xiaoman, declaring that she and Jiang Qiaoxi will continue to be friends, eat together, and watch sunsets just like they used to. Her words silence Cen Xiaoman and shift the opinion of other students, who now see that Jiang Qiaoxi's injury was accidental and their bond is genuine.
However, the drama is far from over. When President Liang (Qiaoxi's mother) learns of his injury, she is enraged. After getting the full story from the scooter owner, she confronts Ying Tao's family at their home. She lectures Sheng Juan, Ying Tao's mother, on raising her child properly. Ying Tao, unable to bear seeing her parents take the blame, is about to argue back but is stopped by her mother.
