Episode 2
The drama kicks off with Su Baoyan arriving at the company, fully expecting to take over her father's position. She's immediately blindsided to find Qin Yuebai already installed as the new General Manager. Su Baoyan, sizing her up from head to toe, rudely assumes Qin Yuebai is her father's mistress who has slept her way to the top.
Not one to tolerate disrespect, Qin Yuebai coolly asserts her authority. She walks into the center of the office and announces a three-day paid holiday for the entire staff to relax. The employees are thrilled at the prospect of a paid vacation and instantly warm to their new boss, some even breaking into applause. Seeing Qin Yuebai so skillfully win over the staff, Su Baoyan fumes. Qin Yuebai's eyes then land on the dog Su Baoyan brought with her, and she adds a new office rule on the spot: no pets allowed at work.
As Vice President, Su Baoyan has no choice but to obey the General Manager. Fuming, she packs up all her dog's belongings and takes them to her car. Humiliated on her very first day, Su Baoyan vows she will get her revenge.
The next day, Qin Yuebai walks into a crisis. The art gallery's roster of signed artists has collectively demanded to terminate their contracts. To make matters worse, the media is widely reporting that the mass exodus is due to the change in management. Qin Yuebai is stunned; a gallery is nothing without its artists and their work. In a bid to save the company, she sets her sights on a contemporary artist known only as L. L is famously elusive and not signed with any gallery, making him the perfect high-profile catch.
Qin Yuebai starts researching L's preferences and learns that one of his paintings is currently up for auction. She immediately heads to the auction house. The bidding starts at 300,000 but quickly soars to six million. Just as she's determined to win the piece, she runs into Lu Li, whom she has met once before. After a brief, polite exchange, Lu Li deliberately encourages the man sitting next to him, turning him into a fierce competitor for Qin Yuebai. He successfully drives the price up to nine million.
Knowing it's pointless to bid any higher, Qin Yuebai is forced to give up. After the auction, she angrily confronts Lu Li, demanding to know what his problem is and why trouble seems to find her every time he's around.
The following day, Qin Yuebai is surprised to see Lu Li's resume on her desk for a chef position at the company. The company isn't hiring a chef, so she rejects his application. However, she then sees the explosive news online: the painting from the auction was a forgery. In that moment, she realizes Lu Li wasn't trying to sabotage her; he was protecting her from buying a worthless fake.
She chases after Lu Li and catches him at the elevator, offering him the job.
