Spoiler Alert
The episode opens with a major confession from Mu Zhenliang. He finally reveals the long-held secret behind his adoption of Mu Haobo. Years ago, a fortune-teller told him that his prosperity depended on a child with two moles on the sole of his foot. Since his wife had passed away, he decided to adopt. Through the Jiji Trading Company, he found a boy matching this description at an orphanage—the boy who would become Mu Haobo. All this time, he kept the truth of his origins hidden from his adopted son.
Meanwhile, Luo Xiaoxing, who has been searching for her younger brother for years, tries to connect with Mu Haobo, but he initially shuts her out. Mu Zhenliang intervenes, explaining the situation to a stunned Haobo. Unsure how to react, Haobo hesitates. Mu Zhenliang offers Luo Xiaoxing monetary compensation, but she isn't interested in money; she is simply content to see that her brother, whose birth name is Luo Xiaoyu, has had a good life. She gives Haobo a childhood photo of himself, asking him not to forget where he came from.
The police investigation intensifies as Chang Rui discovers that Jiji Trading is the same overseas company mentioned by the suspect Liu Gang. Furthermore, this company has been in business with the Dingshun Company since 1995. Deng Yan sends her colleagues Yang Jiajia and Yan Lei to investigate Dingshun. There, an employee named Wu Bin provides them with files but quickly makes an excuse to leave. The investigation reveals that all contracts between the two companies, including the one for Mu Zhenliang's adoption, were signed by a man named Ye Xiuming. With all evidence pointing to him, Deng Yan begins to suspect Ye Xiuming.
The focus then shifts to the internal conflict at Dingshun. Ye Xiuming returns from Shencheng to Linshan and meets with Wu Bin on a rooftop. He reminisces about starting the company with his partner, Fang Zilin, and how Wu Bin joined them later. Ye expresses regret for leaving to start a tech company in Shencheng and his desire to return to Dingshun, but Wu Bin shockingly rejects his return to the main office. Digging deeper, Ye Xiuming learns from a fired finance employee that Wu Bin has been abusing his power for personal gain, with the ultimate goal of forcing Ye out of the company entirely. This revelation sends Ye into a rage, and he begins drinking heavily at home. When Fang Zilin tries to console him, he accuses her of having an affair with Wu Bin and conspiring with him, leading to a massive fight between the two.
In a touching scene, Luo Xiaoxing tearfully takes down the missing person posters for her brother, Luo Xiaoyu, whom she searched for over a decade. Just as she gives up hope, Mu Haobo appears at her family's Reunion Diner and finally, willingly, acknowledges her as his sister, moving her to tears.
The criminal case takes another sharp turn when Liu Gang demands to speak with Deng Yan alone, insisting she turn off her body camera. Anticipating a trick, Deng Yan uses a separate audio recorder. Liu Gang offers a deal: if Deng Yan can get him out of trouble, he will reveal the true identity of the notorious "Brother Cripple." When she refuses, Liu Gang confesses that Ye Xiuming is Brother Cripple, claiming that the biggest human trafficker in Linshan is none other than Deng Yan's own cousin.
Faced with this damning testimony, Deng Yan presents the recording to her superiors, Xiao Wenjin and Han Liang. Due to the clear conflict of interest, she is ordered to step away from the case, which is handed over to Chang Rui.
As Yan Lei and Yang Jiajia arrive at Ye Xiuming's home, Fang Zilin frantically tries to call her husband, but his phone goes unanswered. Unbeknownst to her, Ye has arranged to meet Wu Bin, who, realizing Ye knows the truth, is now plotting murder. Wu Bin creates an alibi by inviting three of his subordinates to a meal, drugging their wine with sleeping pills, and slipping away after they pass out.
Deng Yan remains convinced that Ye Xiuming is being framed, but the evidence against him is overwhelming.
The episode culminates on the rooftop. Ye Xiuming confronts Wu Bin, demanding he sign over his shares of Dingshun. Wu Bin refuses, and Ye accuses him of betrayal. Wu Bin retorts that the company is his and Fang Zilin's now. As Ye pulls out his phone to call the police, a furious Wu Bin shoves him off the building to his death. Wu Bin then calmly returns to the restaurant, sits down with his still-unconscious men, and continues drinking to solidify his alibi.
