Episode Summary
In this episode, Liao Tingyan discovers Sima Jiao dying by her own hand and, in her grief, kills Shi Qianlv. After regaining her memories, she is forced to become the new Demon Lord. To save a comatose Sima Jiao, she sacrifices herself by enduring lightning strikes to channel Spirit Fire into him. He awakens, and they plan for peace. Meanwhile, the old Demon Lord possesses a new host. The episode ends with Sima Jiao building a city for Liao Tingyan, and her planning to propose to him.

Episode 27 : A New Lord, An Old Enemy
Waking Up to a Nightmare
The episode kicks off right where we left off. Liao Tingyan finally comes to her senses. She finds Sima Jiao lying in a pool of his own blood. She rushes to him, trying to stop the bleeding from the wound she made. He just looks at her peacefully and says he doesn't blame her.
This completely breaks her. The man she loves is dead, and she's the one who killed him.In a wave of pure grief and rage, she unleashes her power. She freezes everything around them. This blast of ice kills Shi Qianlv. Of course, he can't just die. He uses his last breath to thank her for sending him off, a final, twisted taunt.
Overwhelmed by everything, Liao Tingyan does the only thing she can think of. She jumps off a cliff. Feng Qi tries to follow, but a barrier throws him back.
The New Demon Lord in Town
Liao Tingyan doesn't die. Instead, she lands in her own spiritual space, her Shenfu. There, she gets all of her memories back. She understands everything now. Her first thought is how to save Sima Jiao. She knows her enemy isn't just one person anymore. It's the entire Demon Domain.
Speaking of the Demon Domain, things are happening at Baiguyuan. Feng Qi has the Grand Master tied to a sacrificial altar. He plans to use the Grand Master's body as a vessel in a blood ritual. Liao Tingyan arrives just in time to stop it.
Then the Grand Master does something unexpected. He reveals that Liao Tingyan's body, while having the cold nature of a fish, is the true heir to the Centipede Clan.This is the Demon Lord's bloodline. Before anyone can react, he forces his own Inner Core into her. The transfer of power makes her the new, official Demon Lord. Everyone is stunned.
A Desperate Plan
Sima Jiao is in a coma and could die at any moment. To keep the Demon Domain from falling into chaos, Liao Tingyan takes her place on the Demon Lord's throne. This buys her some time.
She searches for a way to wake Sima Jiao. She enters his spiritual realm and finds him in a terrible state. He has regressed into a weak, dying infant. While she's there, the spirit of Sima Jiao's mother appears. She tells Liao Tingyan there's only one way to save him: Spirit Fire.The best place to find Spirit Fire is Leiming Valley.
A Sacrifice for a Sacrifice
Without hesitating, Liao Tingyan takes Sima Jiao to Leiming Valley. This is the same place he once brought her to help her ascend to the immortal realm. Now, the roles are reversed.
She begins a dangerous ritual. She intentionally triggers lightning strike after lightning strike. The goal is to channel the Spirit Fire from the lightning directly into Sima Jiao's body.You might remember that just two of these strikes caused her immense pain before. Now, she endures them over and over, ignoring her own safety. Finally, it works. Sima Jiao wakes up.
A Path to Peace?
He is heartbroken seeing what she did for him. Liao Tingyan feels guilty about her decision to go to Guyu Wu, which started this whole mess. Sima Jiao tells her he wants to end the constant war between the Immortal and Demon realms. He figures the demons only steal Inner Cores because they lack their own spiritual veins for cultivation. His plan is to give the Demon Realm its own spiritual source. This would remove their need to fight.
Meanwhile, Evil Gets a New Host
The original Demon Lord isn't gone for good. His spirit is wandering, looking for a new body. He finds the perfect target: Bi'an. She's the young girl Sima Jiao worked so hard to save. The Demon Lord possesses her and plans to lay low while he regains his strength.
Baishu has been searching for Bi'an. He finds her, but he doesn't realize she's just a puppet now. The Demon Lord, in Bi'an's body, kills him without a second thought.
A City and a Proposal
For now, the Immortal and Demon realms are at peace. Sima Jiao does something incredibly romantic. He builds an entire city for Liao Tingyan, named Yan City, just so they can meet whenever they want.
Liao Tingyan is touched by this huge gift. She decides to give him something in return. She starts secretly preparing a dowry. She's going to propose to him.
