Episode Summary
In this episode, Liao Tingyan and a reincarnated, amnesiac Sima Jiao are finally reunited in the mortal realm. After she saves his life from an assassination attempt by taking a blade for him, he starts to trust her, but their reunion puts them in the crosshairs of a new alliance between the Demon Lord and the Marquis of Nan Yan.

He's Back, But He's Not the Same
Liao Tingyan finally sees Sima Jiao again. It’s been nineteen years. She has seen him countless times in her dreams, but now he's real and standing right in front of her. Her eyes are already red when she looks at him.
Sima Jiao, however, doesn't remember her. He thinks she seems familiar, like a woman from his dreams, but that's it.He asks for her name. He even warns her that he's a ruthless killer. Liao Tingyan just smiles. She doesn't care about any of that. She's just happy they've found each other in this lifetime. She moves closer, presses one of his acupoints, and lets him rest on her shoulder. She just wants the moment to last.
A Spy in the Palace?
Liao Tingyan stays by his side all night. She notices he has lost all of his divine power. His face isn't as pale anymore, though. He looks healthier, more like the young man he once was.
The next morning, Sima Jiao’s attendants report that Liao Tingyan was the one who rescued Wei Xianyu. No one can figure out who she is or where she came from. Sima Jiao immediately gets suspicious. He guesses she's a spy sent by the Marquis of Nan Yan. Why else would a beautiful woman just show up at his door? He decides to take her back to the palace. It’s the best way to keep an eye on her and see what the Marquis is planning.
A Test of Loyalty
An Attack on the Road
They travel back to the palace in the same carriage. Liao Tingyan is in a great mood. She talks about how good the food in the mortal world is. Sima Jiao is confused by her strange comments. He’s still very wary of her and never lets his guard down. When he gets a headache, she immediately helps by massaging his temples. He’s reluctant at first, but her massage actually makes him feel much better.
Their journey is interrupted by assassins. Sima Jiao jumps into the fight. Liao Tingyan can't use her powers here in the mortal world, but she watches him, impressed by how skilled her husband is. One attacker sneaks up behind Sima Jiao. Liao Tingyan sees it and throws herself in the way of the blade. The sword sinks into her chest, and blood pours from the wound. Sima Jiao’s men capture all the assassins. They discover Wei Xianyu is among them and take everyone back to the capital.
A Change of Heart
Sima Jiao is deeply moved. Liao Tingyan was willing to die to save him. He realizes she can't possibly be a spy for the Marquis of Nan Yan. He orders the royal physician to treat her immediately.
Liao Tingyan isn't worried, though. She has a unique constitution, and a wound like this can't seriously harm her. The physician examines her and also notices that her body is extraordinary. Back at the palace, the official investigating Liao Tingyan reports that she has no background. It's like she appeared out of thin air. The official advises against keeping someone with no history so close to the emperor. Sima Jiao doesn't listen. He already feels a special connection to her.
Meanwhile, the Demon Lord hasn't been idle. He wants to kill Sima Jiao to obtain a pure bloodline. But with Liao Tingyan now by Sima Jiao's side, it's become more difficult. The Demon Lord decides to team up with the Marquis of Nan Yan. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, after all. The Marquis is eager for a powerful ally. They plot against Sima Jiao together. The Demon Lord warns the Marquis to be careful of Liao Tingyan. He calls her a enchantress who will ruin their plans if she isn't dealt with quickly.
