When Destiny Brings the Demon: Episode 7 Recap
So, Liao Tingyan is basically living the high life in the demon's palace, enjoying all the new clothes and jewelry. She figures being the grandmaster's attendant is a pretty sweet gig. One day, Sima Jiao wants to go out, but she gets nervous when she hears him mention killing people. She really doesn't want to see a bloodbath.
But Sima Jiao, who can apparently read her mind, decides to skip the daily murder and takes her out to a flower banquet instead. While she's snacking, she runs into her old master from Qinggu Mountain, who's being hassled by some local thugs. They claim he spilled their expensive "Jade Pulp and Nectar" and demand a hundred spirit stones.
Liao Tingyan, being a loyal apprentice, steps up to defend him. When one of the guys grabs her by the neck, Sima Jiao appears out of nowhere and just yeets the thugs across the square. Everyone recognizes the grandmaster and immediately kneels. Her old master, who's never seen the grandmaster in person, gets super worried for her. He quietly suggests she should find a way to ditch this "great demon."
Of course, Sima Jiao hears everything. He confronts the master, not with anger, but with a bit of amusement once he understands the master is just worried about Liao Tingyan's safety. So, he does the most Sima Jiao thing ever: he laughs and gifts the master four entire spirit veins. But then he casually drops a bomb—ordinary people who use the spirit veins from his home, Bailu Cliff, will either go insane or die. This is a huge warning to everyone who's been secretly stealing his spiritual energy.
This news sends a guy named Tian Wuya into a full-blown panic. He's been using those spirit veins, and now his best disciples are starting to go mad. Sima Jiao then uses his magic to push them all over the edge into insanity. Desperate, Tian Wuya asks another sect leader, Shi Qianlv, to beg Sima Jiao for mercy. When all of Tian Wuya's students flee in terror, he loses it and confronts Sima Jiao.
This is where we get the big reveal. Years ago, when Sima Jiao was just a child, it was Tian Wuya who proposed sealing his power by driving eight massive nails into his chest. It's a pain Sima Jiao has never forgotten. So, he gets his revenge. He takes out the very same eight nails he pulled from his own body and drives them into Tian Wuya, who dies on the spot.
Tian Wuya's death sends shockwaves. Shi Qianlv realizes Sima Jiao's revenge tour has officially begun and, fearing he's next, tries to rally the other sect leaders to seal Sima Jiao again. But the group is divided; a woman named Ye Ruling wants to kill Sima Jiao herself, so she refuses to help.
Meanwhile, the person who put a puppet curse on Liao Tingyan decides to activate it. She collapses in terrible pain and runs to Sima Jiao for help. He saves her by feeding her a large amount of his own blood. He can't help but find it ironic that he, a notorious killer, is always using his own blood to save this one girl.
The crazy part is, his blood gives her a massive power-up! The pain vanishes, and she suddenly has super-hearing and clairvoyance. She's so thrilled that she starts flying around the palace rooftops. The episode ends with a cute, funny moment where she tries to use her new telekinesis to make fruit fly into her mouth, but Sima Jiao playfully keeps intercepting it.
