Episode Summary
Ning Susu's fake pregnancy is revealed, causing her fiancé Fei Wendian to leave her and sparking a major conflict between the Ning and Fei families. Meanwhile, the army arrives to forcibly conscript villagers, creating chaos. Ning Xiuxiu cleverly protects her friends from the draft and, in a final act of defiance, rescues her sister from their manipulative families.

So, the whole story kicks off with some major drama at the Fei house. Ning Susu suddenly starts bleeding, and Fei Zuoshi, her mother-in-law-to-be, totally panics, thinking it's a miscarriage. She sends her maid, Xiao Qing, to get a doctor. But here's the first twist: the doctor checks Susu and says she's not pregnant at all, she just got her period.
Fei Zuoshi refuses to believe it and sends Xiao Qing to find another doctor, the well-known Doctor Huo, but he's already retired. Just like that, Fei Zuoshi is floored, and poor Susu is scared out of her mind.
Meanwhile, another problem is brewing. Tie Tou hears a rumor that the "permanent tenancy rights" promised by Ning Xuexiang are a sham. He wrongly assumes this was Ning Xiuxiu's idea and storms off to confront her. Xiuxiu has no idea what he's talking about. Worried he'll lose his land, Tie Tou begs Xiuxiu for help and shows her a letter from Du Chunlin. Xiuxiu, ever the quick thinker, tells him to take that letter and the farmers' association flag she made him and go see Ning Kejin.
Tie Tou does exactly that. When Ning Kejin shows the letter to his father, Ning Xuexiang, they realize how serious this is. They immediately invite Tie Tou for drinks and officially grant the permanent tenancy rights to his family.
Back at the Fei's, Fei Zuoshi is heartbroken about the fake pregnancy and gives Susu the cold shoulder, refusing to eat or drink. Susu is devastated. Her fiancé, Fei Wendian, feels terrible seeing her so upset.
After getting his land rights, a happy Tie Tou goes to thank Ning Xiuxiu. Big Foot Feng warns her that Ning Xuexiang might come after her for this, but Xiuxiu isn't bothered.
Susu, on the other hand, gets angry. She figures, just because she isn't pregnant now doesn't mean she never will be. She tries to get Fei Wendian to come back to their room to "try again." But this is the final straw for Wendian. He only stuck with the engagement because he thought she was pregnant. Now that the truth is out, he tells her he wants to call it off and go back to school. He explains everything to his mother, packs his bags, and leaves before Susu can even stop him.
Feeling humiliated, Susu packs her own bags and goes back to her father, Ning Xuexiang, and brother, Ning Kejin, telling them everything. They were already mad at Fei Zuoshi for stirring up trouble with Tie Tou, and hearing how she mistreated Susu makes them furious. They decide they need to get even.
Just when you think things can't get crazier, the army shows up in the village to draft new soldiers. Guo Guiyao and Big Foot Feng are on the road when they see the soldiers and make a run for it. They get caught, but manage to escape by faking disabilities, with a little help from the village chief, Ning Xuewu. Guo Guiyao convinces Big Foot Feng to hide out with him in the city.
The whole village is in a panic. Tie Tou and Zhuzi are about to flee when they remember that members of the local militia are exempt from the draft. They run to Ning Kejin for protection, only to find another guy, Niwei, already hiding there. Soldiers show up to check the militia's roster. In a moment of desperation, Ning Xiuxiu grabs the list and adds three names: Wang Zhuzi (Zhuzi's real name), and two fake ones, Wan Yier and Li San. During the roll call, Zhuzi passes, Tie Tou pretends to be Wan Yier, and a terrified Niwei pretends to be Li San. With some bribes from Kejin, the soldiers are fooled and leave.
After the close call, Xiuxiu is still worried sick about Big Foot Feng. She gets the guys to help her search for him, but no one can find him. His family fears he's been captured and drafted.
The episode closes with a big confrontation. Ning Xuexiang brings Susu back to the Fei house to demand justice. He wants five acres of land as compensation. Fei Zuoshi refuses. Just as things get ugly, Ning Xiuxiu arrives. She calls out both her father and Fei Zuoshi for using Susu as a pawn in their own games, then grabs her sister's hand and walks away with her.
