Episode 11 of Moonlit Reunion begins with Wu Zhen saving Mei Zhuyu's life, transferring her demonic energy to him with a kiss. The process leaves her pale and weak, but she pushes through, feeling she owes him for saving her from a fire in the past. The next morning, Mei Zhuyu is awake and recovering at an astonishing rate, which leaves the imperial doctor completely baffled, calling it a miracle. Once they're alone, Wu Zhen tries to play it cool, telling him she only wants him to recover so he doesn't die in her mansion, which would be bad luck. But her actions speak louder than her words, as she insists he stay in a prepared room to heal.
Of course, a good deed never goes unpunished. The story of Wu Zhen saving Mei Zhuyu gets twisted by city gossip into a wild tale where she, in a fit of rage after he rejected her, broke his legs. Meanwhile, his concerned friends, Shuang Jiang and Wen Hua, are blaming each other for his injury until Hu Zhu arrives to let them know he's safe and recovering at Wu Zhen's place.
Back at the mansion, Hu Zhu can't help but notice the special attention Wu Zhen is giving Mei Zhuyu, guessing that her friend has finally fallen for him. Wu Zhen doesn't deny it, admitting that if he hadn't saved her, she would have died in that fire. She confesses that even as a cat demon, she's still afraid of pain and death.Later, she visits the now-awakened Wordless Book, bringing him candy to help with his bitter medicine, just like he used to do for her when she was a child. Their sweet moment is interrupted by Liu Taizhen, who brings urgent news: the demon Xuanhui has escaped from prison. She suspects someone used the power of a thunderstorm to break the barrier, and the only one capable of that is the imprisoned Elder Hui. Wu Zhen knows Elder Hui's schemes have always been aimed at her and decides it's time to settle their old scores.
As Mei Zhuyu recovers, Wu Zhen takes care of him personally, stopping him anytime he tries to leave. During his bath, she even dismisses a servant to bring him his clothes herself. She teases him with racy stories from the city, but he seriously tells her that love should be pure and not taken lightly, a response that clearly earns her admiration.
In a strange side plot, Mei Si, while chasing after Liu Taizhen, gets a bucket of water thrown on him and accidentally sits on Xuanhui, knocking the demon out. Xuanhui, now a powerless little black snake who can still talk, is taken home by a fascinated Mei Si.
Worried by rumors that Mei Zhuyu might be marrying into Wu Zhen's family, Shuang Jiang and Wen Hua rush to the mansion. There, Mei Zhuyu confesses to Shuang Jiang that he does have feelings for Wu Zhen. However, as a Heavenly Master of Changxi Palace, he's forbidden from having romantic relationships, and with unresolved issues from his past, he feels he can't pursue her. After his friends leave, Wu Zhen often appears by his side in her cat form, keeping him company. Troubled by his confession, Shuang Jiang decides to write to their senior brother, hoping to prevent Mei Zhuyu from getting in too deep.
Once Mei Zhuyu is fully healed, Wu Zhen heads to the Demon Market's prison for a face-to-face with Elder Hui.She cuts right through his denials, accusing him of orchestrating Xuanhui's escape and declaring that today, they will finally settle things by his own rule: winner takes all.
