Episode Summary
The Wordless Book sends Elder Hui on a mission to retrieve a mystical artifact, while a dream demon begins to possess citizens in Chang'an. Wu Zhen and Mei Zhuyu get married in a grand ceremony, where old rivals Liu Taizhen and Hu Zhu make peace. The wedding celebration is disrupted when the dream demon possesses a drunken Mei Si, who is subdued by Liu Taizhen. The demon then possesses Wu Zhen, causing her to hallucinate, but Mei Zhuyu saves her and expels the spirit. The episode ends with both Wu Zhen and Mei Zhuyu determined to hunt down the dangerous demon.

Something Wicked This Way Comes
The episode kicks off with the Wordless Book. It gives Elder Hui a new, urgent mission. He must find the Strange Infant Yuan Pill. Elder Hui is clearly terrified but knows he can't say no.
Right after, things get strange in Chang'an City. A scholar suddenly rips his own clothes off in the street. He screams that he's turning into a butterfly. Then a local woman starts dancing with fire like she's possessed. An old man sees a golden fish in the river and just walks right in after it.
The Xuanjian Division discusses these weird events. They don't seem too alarmed yet. But Mei Zhuyu is paying close attention. He knows something is wrong.
Wu Zhen also senses the disturbance. She goes straight to the Demon Market. She needs to find an answer in the old texts. The Wordless Book shows up again. Wu Zhen gives it the cold shoulder, as usual. This makes the book angry. It throws a rare, ancient book into the demon fire, turning it to ash. After Wu Zhen leaves, a remnant soul laughs at her. It says her goals are impossible.
A Wedding to Remember
Wu Zhen rushes back to the Duke's Mansion before dawn. She gets no time to rest. It's her wedding day, and she's immediately pulled into hair and makeup.
Uninvited Guests
Mei Si has already gathered a crew. They plan to give Mei Zhuyu a hard time when he arrives to pick up his bride. They want to set up a bunch of challenges for him. But when Mei Zhuyu walks through the main gate, he isn't fazed at all. He just walks right toward them, completely calm. His confidence makes Mei Si blush.
The whole thing is interrupted when Wu Zhen appears. She steps out in her full wedding gown. Everyone just stops and stares.
After the couple leaves the mansion, there's a tradition to follow. A bride's close friend is supposed to add a flower for good luck. Wu Zhen doesn't have any close friends, so no one steps forward. It's an awkward moment. Xie Yao thinks about doing it. She feels she owes Wu Zhen for saving her life.
Before she can move, Liu Taizhen and Hu Zhu arrive. Their appearance is a surprise. They hold flowers and say their old grudge is in the past. They've come to celebrate and put the feud to rest.
The Vows
The ceremony begins. Mei Zhuyu leads Wu Zhen by a red silk ribbon over a saddle decorated with good luck charms. They enter the main hall. They bow to heaven and earth. They bow to their elders.
Finally, they turn to bow to each other. As their sleeves touch, they both get flashes of their past. They remember their first meeting. They think about how their feelings for each other grew over time. Wu Zhen recalls seeing him and feeling a sudden urge to protect him. Mei Zhuyu remembers falling for her instantly. He even left his old sect just to build a life with her. With candles burning and music playing, the wedding is complete.
The After-Party Gets Weird
After the ceremony, Mei Si is feeling good. He asks Liu Taizhen about marriages between humans and demons. This makes Liu Taizhen think about her own past. She once wanted revenge on a man who broke her heart. But when she finally found him, he was an old man with a wife and grandkids. She realized she was the only one still trapped by their history. She tells Mei Si she's finally let it go. Mei Si swears he will never be a man like that.
Mei Si Loses His Mind
Mei Si drank way too much for Mei Zhuyu at the party. He goes back to his room and passes out. This makes him the perfect target for a dream demon. The demon enters his dreams and creates a powerful illusion. Mei Si hallucinates that he is marrying Liu Taizhen.
Still under the demon's influence, he runs out of his room. He finds the real Liu Taizhen and grabs her. He insists they must complete the wedding night rituals. Everyone is shocked. Mei Zhuyu and Liu Taizhen quickly realize he's been possessed. Liu Taizhen doesn't hesitate. She grabs a wine pot and smashes it over Mei Si's head. The blow forces the dream demon out of his body.
The Demon Finds a New Host
The demon isn't done, though. It immediately jumps into Wu Zhen. She is hit with a dream-like state. She suddenly believes she can fly and starts walking toward a high ledge. Her movements are strange. Mei Zhuyu is the only one who understands what is happening. He grabs her just before she falls. He secretly uses a spell to force the demon out of her.
Later, Wu Zhen thinks about what happened. She knows it was not normal. That same night, she returns to the Demon Market. She gathers everyone to make a plan to catch this demon. Mei Zhuyu is also determined. He decides he will destroy this creature that attacks people in their dreams.
