Wu Zhen reveals she is half-demon and tries to undergo a full transformation, but Mei Zhuyu and Liu Taizhen stop it, causing her to turn into a cat and lose her memory. A Desperate Choice
Mei Zhuyu knows Wu Zhen is hiding something big. He keeps asking, but she dodges the question every time. He gets tired of the games. So, he threatens her using Ling Xiao's life. That gets her attention.
Wu Zhen finally breaks. She tells him the truth. She is half-human and half-demon. She wants to become a full demon. But the process requires her to be in seclusion for a hundred years. Mei Zhuyu is floored. A century for a mortal like him is a lifetime. He realizes his own actions pushed her to this. He hurt her so badly that she wants to leave her human side behind entirely. The guilt hits him hard.
A Botched Ritual
Wu Zhen suddenly feels sick after their conversation. She has Liu Taizhen and Hu Zhu take her to the Demon Market. It's bad. Her entire body is covered in demon sores. The Wordless Book immediately begins a secret ritual to help her.
During the process, Wu Zhen sees her own demon core. She wants to fight it, but she's completely powerless. The Wordless Book explains her body is failing. It was damaged by a transformation spell long ago. Becoming a full demon is the only way for her to survive. He swears he will stay by her side forever, no matter what happens.
Back in the human world, Mei Zhuyu has a sudden realization. He remembers Wu Zhen's body is special. Forcing her to become a full demon will cause a massive backlash. He grabs Ling Xiao and sprints to the Demon Market. At the same time, Liu Taizhen senses a surge of evil energy. Inside the ritual room, Wu Zhen's energy explodes.
Mei Zhuyu and Liu Taizhen burst in just in time. They work together to stop the Wordless Book. The botched ritual has an unexpected side effect. It actually suppresses the chaotic energy inside Wu Zhen. But the shock of it all turns her back into a calico cat. She panics and bolts from the market.
Amnesia and a New Beginning
The Wife Who Steals Peaches
Mei Zhuyu tries to run after her. Liu Taizhen stops him. He gives a cold warning. If Wu Zhen's energy spirals out of control, she will have to be killed.
Mei Zhuyu doesn't listen. He searches the empty streets all night but finds nothing. He returns home, defeated. Then he sees her. The little calico cat is curled up under the eaves of his house. It all clicks into place. All their "accidental" meetings were never accidents at all. He is flooded with regret. He bows to the cat and gives her a formal apology. Then he brews a special spiritual tea to calm her energy and feeds it to her.
The next morning, Wu Zhen wakes up in human form. She sees Mei Zhuyu next to her. She has no idea who this guy is. But she vaguely remembers him calling her "wife" last night. So, she just assumes they're married. Mei Zhuyu quickly figures out she has amnesia. He immediately calls for Liu Taizhen and Mei Si.
Wu Zhen seems perfectly happy, though. She has forgotten she is a princess. She climbs over a neighbor's wall to steal some fresh peaches. Then she brings them back to share with everyone. She just knows she is a wife of the Mei family.
An Unwelcome Visitor
That night, Mei Zhuyu gently combs Wu Zhen's hair. Later, the Wordless Book sneaks into the room. He plans to take a sleeping Wu Zhen away. Mei Zhuyu confronts him. The Wordless Book insists his 18-year bond with Wu Zhen is stronger. Mei Zhuyu disagrees. He argues that even if Wu Zhen gets her memory back and hates him, she would never choose the Wordless Book. Wu Zhen wakes up from the noise. She looks at the Wordless Book with no recognition at all. Heartbroken, he leaves. [1p]

Trouble in the Demon Market
Mei Zhuyu decides he has to find a permanent cure for Wu Zhen. He plans to leave the city with her. They need to find the legendary Zhuyu celestial grass. It might be her only hope.
Liu Taizhen watches them go. He then heads to the Mei Manor so Mei Si can work on a painting. But Ling Xiao arrives with urgent news. The Wordless Book is causing trouble again. Liu Taizhen rushes back to the Demon Market. Mei Si is worried about him. She begs Xuanhui to go help, but Xuanhui refuses to return to that place.
In the market, the Wordless Book is furious. He wants revenge on Mei Zhuyu. He threatens to leave the market and even tries to kill Ling Xiao. Liu Taizhen shows up right on time. His powerful presence is enough to make the Wordless Book back down. [1p]

Far away, Mei Zhuyu and Wu Zhen find shelter in an abandoned house. Things get creepy fast. A broom starts moving all by itself. The whole place feels wrong.
