Episode Summary
Mei Si's extreme diet for love is revealed. We learn the dark history of the Demon Market's leadership. Elder Hui is planning a rebellion to restore the original founder. Wu Zhen, despite her amnesia, shows flashes of her old power when a magic sword saves her. Her budding relationship with Mei Zhuyu leads to some awkward and jealous moments. The episode ends with Mei Si confronting Liu Taizhen at a brothel.

Mei Si's Grand Romantic Gesture is... Something
So, Mei Si and Liu Taizhen are heading back into the city after a night out. Of course, they get stopped by Huang Yi on patrol. He gets all suspicious about Mei Si's carriage. He's convinced there's a prostitute hiding in there.
Huang Yi just has to look. But right as his buddy Xuanhui pulls back the curtain, Liu Taizhen pulls a magic trick. She vanishes into a puff of smoke. The carriage is empty. Huang Yi has to back off, looking like an idiot.
A Diet of Chicken Hearts
Later, Xuanhui finds Liu Taizhen. He tells her he's about to ascend and become a dragon, so he'll be leaving soon. Before he goes, he needs to show her something. He takes her to Mei Si's room. On the desk are raw chicken hearts and chicken blood.
You are not ready for this. Mei Si has been eating them for over a month. He believes some folk remedy will turn him into a demon. He's doing it so he can be with Liu Taizhen forever. Xuanhui admits Mei Si is his only real friend, and he's worried. He asks Liu Taizhen to be good to Mei Si and visit him sometimes. After Xuanhui leaves, Liu Taizhen looks around the room. It's covered in portraits and sketches of her. She's clearly overwhelmed by it all.
The Demon Market's Secret History
Over in the Demon Market, the Wordless Book is supposed to be comforting Hu Zhu. But it gets distracted by Elder Hui acting shady. It sends Hu Zhu away and meets with the elder alone.
Elder Hui starts with a lie. He says he wants to leave the market to go after Mei Zhuyu. The Wordless Book doesn't buy it for a second. So, Elder Hui drops a huge truth bomb.
The Coup Against the Founder
It turns out Elder Hui and his crew were just small-time demons living in the mountains. Then humans got greedy, started a war, and stole their land. The demons were left homeless. The Evil Spirit Infant came to the rescue. It created the Chang'an Demon Market as a safe haven.
But the Cat Duke and Snake Duke staged a coup. They killed the Evil Spirit Infant and seized control. Now they rule like emperors, passing power down through generations. Elder Hui is bitter. He swears that if he had been there, the Cat Duke never would have won. He plans to free the Evil Spirit Infant and restore the market to its former glory.
Wu Zhen at Changxi Palace
Mei Zhuyu brings Wu Zhen, who still has amnesia, to Changxi Palace. They run into his fifth senior brother, who is a man of very few words. Then Lian Fu shows up. He's happy to see Mei Zhuyu but becomes terrified when he sees Wu Zhen. Everyone tries to calm him down, saying she's family now.
Wu Zhen can't remember being the Cat Duke.She can't even use basic demon magic. While walking through the training grounds, she accidentally triggers a deadly trap left by a senior brother. Just as she's about to get hit, the Changxi Jian sword flies into her hand on its own. It completely dissolves the trap. Mei Zhuyu is stunned.
Awkward Mornings and Jealousy
That night, Wu Zhen can't sleep. She gets Mei Zhuyu to come over and they talk. The next morning, his second senior brother, Xiao Mu, catches Mei Zhuyu leaving her room. It's super awkward. Xiao Mu plays it cool, though. He distracts Wu Zhen by showing her around the palace. Then he secretly gives Mei Zhuyu a key to the Changxi Pavilion. He hopes Mei Zhuyu can find a cure for Wu Zhen in there.
While Mei Zhuyu and his brother search for answers, Wu Zhen wanders off. She finds some guys training with their shirts off and gets a big smile on her face. Mei Zhuyu sees her and gets hit with a serious case of jealousy.
Speaking of jealousy, Mei Si is moping around his room. He doesn't understand why Liu Taizhen is giving him the cold shoulder. Xuanhui tells him she went to the Yuzhen Brothel. Before Xuanhui can even mention the whole "becoming a dragon" thing, Mei Si bolts. He rushes to the brothel to find her. Liu Taizhen hears he's there and tries to slip out the back, but Mei Si corners her.
