Hide and Seek: A Deal Gone Wrong

Episode 13 of Hide Games begins with Wang Jian tracking a lead to a phone shop. He successfully gets his hands on Han Xu's phone, but that's where the trail goes cold. Realizing that Han Xu is a pro at covering his tracks and that their original plan is a bust, Wang Jian knows they need to focus on damage control.

Sensing Wang Jian's frustration, Chief Zhou admits he's in a tough spot too and calls an emergency meeting to figure out their next move. The meeting gets crashed by "Xiao Wu," who is furious he wasn't included. Here’s the twist: this isn't the real Xiao Wu. He's actually a guy named Song Tai, who was brought in to impersonate the real Xiao Wu (who is already dead) to help their plan. Now that the mission is supposedly over, Chief Zhou wants him to go back to headquarters.

Song Tai isn't happy about this. He argues that since the plan failed, the case is far from over. He feels like he's being cast aside now that his part is done and suspects Chief Zhou has another agenda. This hits a nerve, and Chief Zhou gets angry. After a subtle signal from Wang Jian, Song Tai backs down and agrees to leave. Chief Zhou has him "escorted" to the station and makes him hand over his phone.

Once Song Tai is gone, Team Leader Ma suggests putting out a city-wide wanted notice for Han Xu, pinning the murders of Zhang Ahua and a prison guard on him. Wang Jian is strongly against this, and the two get into a heated argument. In the end, Chief Zhou sides with Ma. He orders the wanted notice to be released, chews out Wang Jian for repeatedly going rogue and messing up the plan, and officially puts Team Leader Ma in charge of the entire operation.

Meanwhile, Han Xu is on his own mission. He secretly gets files on Zhang Aniu and others. After a night of planning, he leaves the monks he was staying with and sneaks into the prison for a private meeting with Zhang Aniu. He has to deliver the devastating news that his sister, Zhang Ahua, has been murdered. Filled with grief and a desire for revenge, Zhang Aniu helps Han Xu analyze the situation. He figures Han Xu must have crossed some powerful "big brother" to get this kind of heat.

Following this lead, Han Xu finds two of a local boss's henchmen and presses them for the location of someone named Scarface. They tell him about a man in Scarface's crew named Paka. They say Paka is a boxer and Scarface's main money-maker, and more importantly, his voice is a dead ringer for the one on that mysterious recording. The episode ends as Han Xu walks alone into an underground boxing gym, heading straight for Paka.
