Zhang Zhi Ming Shows Up the Vets
An old man gets admitted to the hospital. He's been smoking for twenty years and has a list of problems, including hepatitis and asthma. Yu Ze checks him out first. But then the new guy, Zhang Zhi Ming, shows up. He takes one look and correctly diagnoses a pneumothorax, a collapsed lung. The operating room is full, so Zhang Zhi Ming decides to treat the patient right there in the ward. Dong Yi Yan sees the whole thing go down.
Later, during rounds, Zhang Zhi Ming points out that the patient's hand is shaking. He thinks it might be a side effect of his medication. Yu Ze gets defensive. He thinks Zhang Zhi Ming is wrong and is just trying to make him look bad.
Yu Ze Is Not a Fan
Yu Ze is clearly threatened by the new surgeon. He confronts Zhang Zhi Ming directly. He accuses him of trying to steal his job and take over. Zhang Zhi Ming is calm about it. He says he was just worried the patient was having a seizure from the drugs. Yu Ze doesn't buy it. He tells everyone on his team not to get in his way. Of course, a nurse later confirms the patient is, in fact, having seizures. This leads to an emergency surgery.

The main event of the episode is Dong Yi Yan's ambition. She wants to perform a major liver transplant surgery.
Dong Yi Yan Needs a Partner
Dong Yi Yan needs a partner for this complex surgery. She asks Lin Ying Jie, who thinks he's the top surgeon at the hospital. He flat-out refuses. But Dong Yi Yan isn't going to let that stop her. She's determined to find another way. You can see her passion for this work. Zhang Zhi Ming tells her he got into this field to save as many people as possible, and she seems to see a lot of herself in him.
A Shocking Choice
The hospital is buzzing with gossip. Dong Yi Yan has chosen Zhang Zhi Ming as her partner for the transplant. Yu Ze is furious. Meanwhile, we learn a huge piece of Dong Yi Yan's backstory. Her father was a surgeon who took the blame for a botched surgery to protect someone else. That person's name is Yang Xu Chuan. Dong Yi Yan plans to go to Hong Kong to find this man and uncover the truth about her father's death. She tells a friend she needs to find her father's old notebook to get the proof she needs.

The surgery begins. But during the procedure, Dong Yi Yan's hand starts to shake uncontrollably. She has no choice but to hand the scalpel to Zhang Zhi Ming and leave the operating room. It turns out, this isn't a new problem. We learn she was diagnosed with severe sclerosis in her arm. This condition could mean her career as a lead surgeon is over.
Boardroom Politics and Betrayal
While all this is happening, Fang Xin is in a corner secretly checking stock prices. After Dong Yi Yan leaves the O.R., Fang Xin brings reporters to the hospital. Dong Yi Yan is angry. She feels she shouldn't be giving interviews when she couldn't even finish the surgery. Her own condition is getting worse and she needs an operation. But she wants to finish her current cases first. She was counting on this surgery's success to get full stock rights and a seat on the board of directors.
