Spoiler Alert
The Road Trip Ends Here
So, the team is finally on the move. Wu Xie is practically buzzing with excitement. He's in a van, scribbling in his notebook like a kid on the first day of a field trip. He's dreaming of some grand adventure. The others are just playing games on their phones. It’s a real mood contrast.
Wu Xie is also thinking about the crew. He knows Pan Zi is the muscle. The guy is all biceps and gets things done for Third Uncle. Then there's Da Kui. He's the smart one who can apparently crack codes and maps. A good combo to have.
That Guy in Black
There’s another person on this trip. He’s young, dressed in all black, and carries a sword box on his back. Wu Xie has seen him before with his Third Uncle. Uncle Wu respects this guy. He told Wu Xie that some people hide their true skills. This guy is clearly one of them. He’s a total mystery.
Welcome to the Creepiest Cave Ever
The road ends. Now they have to take a boat. The guide tries to get a boatman, but a dog shows up with a message instead. It says they have to wait. Apparently, this is the only boat that can get them into the caves safely. Any other boat is a one-way trip.
The Boatman and His Stinky Dog
Third Uncle notices the dog smells awful. The group figures out it eats bat droppings, called "Ye Sha". This stuff stinks but it also hides the human scent. It's a weirdly clever survival tactic.
Finally, the boatman arrives. Half his face is covered in scars and he seems to be mute. The guide has to do all the talking. As they go deeper into the cave, it gets cold and the space gets tight. The group tries making small talk to cut the tension. The guy in black says nothing.
Now You See Them, Now You Don't
The boatman starts making frantic noises. The guide says there's something up ahead and tells everyone to shut up. A moment later, someone realizes the boatman and the guide are just gone. There was no splash. No sound at all. Third Uncle tells everyone to keep it together. This waterway is no joke.
All Hell Breaks Loose
Pan Zi leans over the edge to look at something in the water. A creature lunges out, mouth wide open, right at his face. Before anyone can react, the mysterious man in black strikes. His blade moves in a flash, and the creature drops dead into the boat.
Meet the Corpse Beetles
Someone stomps on the thing. It's a "Corpse Beetle," and it's filled with glowing green blood. It's disgusting. They quickly realize the water is probably swarming with these things. Someone suggests turning back, but Third Uncle shuts that down. He thinks the boatman and guide set them up to die here.
And he's right. They look back. Their route is blocked by another boat. This one is carrying a huge water buffalo. They have no choice but to push forward. They can hear scratching sounds from under their boat. The man in black stands at the front, occasionally slashing his sword into the water. Each time, more green liquid spreads.
Overboard
Suddenly, a piercing sound rips through the cave. It's so loud it feels like their heads are splitting open. Everyone covers their ears, but it's no use. The boat flips. Wu Xie is thrown into the freezing water.
The shock of the cold brings him to his senses. He breaks the surface and sees Pan Zi in trouble. A Corpse Beetle is latched onto him. Wu Xie swims over and rips the beetle off. But the creature immediately turns and attacks him. Wu Xie struggles, but he isn't strong enough. Just as it's about to kill him, Pan Zi recovers, grabs a dagger, and finishes the beetle for good.
