Spoiler Alert
A Wedding and a Trap
Uninvited Guests Crash the Party
So, Ji Bozai and Ming Yi are getting married. But this isn't your average wedding. The entire setup is a deliberate copy of Xun Ming's wedding from years ago. The decorations, the clothes, everything. It’s all for show.
Ji Bozai’s plan was simple. He only invited Xun Ming to watch. He wanted to get a specific reaction out of him. The plan goes sideways almost immediately. Meng Yangqiu peeks at the invitation. Then he runs his mouth to basically everyone in Jixing Yuan. Suddenly, a bunch of immortals show up, and Ji Bozai’s quiet little scheme is ruined.
A Princess Makes a Demand
As if that wasn't enough, Princess Tianji arrives. She wants to stop the wedding entirely. Ji Bozai is firm. He tells her no. He won't budge. Ming Yi tries to play mediator and find a compromise.
This is when Tianji lays down a condition. The wedding can happen. But Ji Bozai is forbidden from forming a heart seal with Ming Yi. That means they can't connect their minds or share their divine consciousness. Before Ming Yi can even argue, Ji Bozai agrees. He accepts the deal right away.
The Real Plan Unfolds
The Illusion Maze
Xun Ming finally shows up with his puppet, Zhang Tai. He watches the ceremony quietly. After it's over, Ji Bozai invites all the guests to a banquet at Hua Yue Ye. He tells everyone to go ahead. But he asks Xun Ming to stay behind.
Here’s the twist. Xun Ming knew this was a trap all along. He tells Ji Bozai that the wedding wasn't some treasured memory for him. It was just bait. The whole point was to lure Ji Bozai into a powerful illusion. Xun Ming wants to force him to reveal the location of the "Huang Liang Meng."
Ji Bozai falls right into the illusion. It's a confusing maze of fog. He sees his old master, Bo Yulan. The sight almost breaks him. He’s about to spill the secret about the Huang Liang Meng. But then he notices something is off. The way his "master" talks and acts feels wrong. He realizes it's just Xun Ming in disguise. Ji Bozai stabs him with his sword, but it does nothing.
Ming Yi Breaks the Spell
Xun Ming keeps shapeshifting. He messes with Ji Bozai's head over and over. Ji Bozai is exhausted from fighting all the illusions. He’s losing.
Ming Yi manages to break through a barrier to get to him. But Ji Bozai is so confused that he turns his sword on her. Things look bad. Then, Ming Yi remembers something. Zhang Tai once mentioned a phrase Xun Ming always used to say about his lost love. "Whether you are sincere or not, you are the only one in my heart."
She runs right up to Ji Bozai. She whispers that vow in his ear. Then she kisses him. It works. Ji Bozai snaps out of his confusion.
A Tragic Backstory
Xun Ming's Past
With his mind clear, Ji Bozai is able to find Xun Ming's most precious memory. Seeing this, Xun Ming decides to show them everything. He forces Ji Bozai and Ming Yi to experience his past with his love, Mu Xinliu.
We get the whole story. Mu Xinliu was basically a pawn for her brother. She was a gifted musician, forced to entertain powerful men. She was miserable until she met Xun Ming. He fell for her the moment he saw her.
To win her freedom, Xun Ming made a deal. He agreed to tame a ferocious beast for her brother, Mu Qibai. He used his own body to do it. The process was agonizing. To ease his pain, Mu Xinliu would cut her own wrist every day. She used her blood as an ingredient in his medicine.
It's a heartbreaking story. But before Xun Ming could fully tame the beast, it attacked. The beast killed Mu Xinliu. Xun Ming was left completely broken.
The Final Showdown
A Shocking Possession
After seeing the past, Ming Yi and Ji Bozai understand. They can feel Mu Xinliu's pain. They realize she was never truly happy, not even with Xun Ming.
Just then, the real Xun Ming appears. He immediately attacks Ji Bozai. Ji Bozai is still weak from the illusion. His spiritual power is suppressed. After a few moves, it's clear he can't win.
Ming Yi holds up the failing Ji Bozai. She confronts Xun Ming directly. She asks him why he insists on keeping Mu Xinliu's memory trapped like this. Her words hit a nerve. Xun Ming gets furious. Before either of them can react, he lunges forward. He possesses Ji Bozai's body, taking complete control of his mind and actions.
