Episode Summary
In this episode, Ji Bozai imprisons Ming Yi after learning of her deception, but a new threat from Mu Qibai forces them into a fragile alliance. They agree to work together under three conditions set by Ji Bozai. To investigate Mu Qibai, they stage a public fight and a dramatic meltdown to create a diversion.

The Fallout from the Betrayal
The episode kicks off right where we left off. Ji Bozai is reeling from a heavenly punishment. His spiritual power is completely shot. Ming Yi has to basically carry him back to Sea of No Return.
A Convenient Lie
Once they're back, Ming Yi immediately starts healing him with her own spiritual energy. This is a huge shock for Ji Bozai. He realizes she's been hiding even more from him. He is furious. He demands to know who she really is.
Ming Yi begs him to let her treat Twenty-Seven's injuries first. After that, she spins a new story. She claims she's the fiancée of a guy named Ming Xian. She says he went missing after a battle. So, she came to the capital to investigate. She suspected someone was secretly working with Yaoguang Mountain. She admits she lied to Ji Bozai. But she insists they are on the same side. They both want to find the same enemies.
Prison Time
Ji Bozai isn't buying it. Or maybe he is, but he's too angry to care. The deception cuts deep. He says he wants to kill her even more than he wants to kill Mu Qibai. That's saying something.
He throws both Ming Yi and the injured Twenty-Seven into a prison cell. It's cold and damp. Ming Yi is hurt too, but she puts on a brave face for Twenty-Seven. You can tell she feels guilty, though. She knows Ji Bozai had real feelings for her.
Meanwhile, Ji Bozai's right-hand man, Bu Xiu, sees Ming Yi as a major threat. He wants her gone for good. But Ji Bozai sends him on a mission instead. He tells Bu Xiu to go to Yaoguang Mountain and find out if Ming Yi's story about Ming Xian is true.
For the next few days, Ji Bozai walks past her cell and completely ignores her. She can cry and beg all she wants. He just thinks it's another act to make him feel sorry for her.
Bu Xiu eventually comes back with a report. Ming Xian is definitely missing, just like she said. But nobody has ever heard of him having a fiancée. The guy was apparently a notorious flirt with a long list of affairs. So they still can't confirm her identity. The only thing they know for sure is that she's connected to Ming Xian somehow. Ji Bozai decides to keep her alive. Bu Xiu can see right through him. He knows his boss has a soft spot for her.
An Uneasy Alliance Forms
While all that drama is happening, other players are making moves.
A Warning Ignored
Yan Xiao saw Mu Qibai kill Xun Ming. He's smart enough to be scared. He finds a moment to warn Princess Tianji. He tells her to use Ji Bozai's power for protection. He stresses that she should not try to confront Mu Qibai herself.
Tianji completely misreads the situation. She thinks Yan Xiao has sold out and is now working for Mu Qibai. She's incredibly disappointed in him. She basically gives up on him entirely.
The Three Conditions
Later, Princess Tianji calls a meeting with Ji Bozai and Ming Yi. She has questions about Ming Yi's identity. Ji Bozai, despite everything, defends her. They manage to cut a deal that also protects Ming Xian's pet white cat.
On the way back, Ming Yi comes clean. She admits she targeted him from the start. She asks him to forgive her. She points out that Mu Qibai is the real enemy they need to focus on. Then she drops a bombshell. She knows the secret to defeating Mu Qibai's beast army. It's a dark magic technique called "Beast Transformation."
The technique is extremely dangerous. It causes massive damage to the user's spiritual veins. Ming Yi offers to act as a "vessel" for Ji Bozai. She would absorb all the dangerous backlash for him.
Ji Bozai can see she's being sincere this time. He finally feels a little pity for her. He agrees to her help but gives her three strict conditions. First, she can't contact anyone outside Sea of No Return. Second, she has to be on call for him 24/7. Third, she is only allowed to teach him the technique. She is forbidden from ever using it herself.
The Grand Deception Begins
With a new plan in place, they immediately get to work.
Outmaneuvering Mu Qibai
With Ming Yi's help, Ji Bozai successfully exposes Mu Qibai's schemes to Tianji. This forces Tianji's hand. She announces the official list of fighters for the upcoming event.
Mu Qibai had a plan. He wanted to use the training period to keep everyone at the Jixing Divine Palace. This would let him secretly investigate another matter. But Tianji ruins his plan. She orders everyone to move to the Shouhua Pan Palace instead.
After this, Mu Qibai has a private word with Yan Xiao. He warns him to stay in line and keep working for him. He tells him to forget about getting back together with Tianji. Then he makes a creepy promise. He says when this is all over, he'll erase Tianji's memories. That way, she can marry Yan Xiao without any hard feelings.
Ji Bozai decides he needs to investigate Mu Qibai's connection to a place called Longli Terrace. He makes up an excuse for him and Ming Yi to move into the palace as well.
A Very Public Meltdown
Ming Yi does some digging. She finds out Longli Terrace is locked down tight. The only way in is to create a major distraction.
So, they stage a huge, very public fight. Ming Yi pretends to be furious and kicks Ji Bozai out of their room. Ji Bozai then goes to a local tavern called Hua Yue Ye. He puts on a big show of drinking to drown his sorrows.
When it's time to pay, he claims he forgot his money. He tells the staff to go get Mu Qibai. When Mu Qibai arrives, Ji Bozai grabs him and starts sobbing. He wails about his terrible luck with women and his miserable life. The whole performance is so over-the-top that everyone in the tavern starts laughing at him. And just like that, their distraction is in full swing.
