Episode Summary
Fang Lei escalates her campaign to win back Shen Haoming by threatening suicide, successfully derailing his birthday plans with Xu Yan. Meanwhile, Xu Yan impresses a powerful business contact, Jiang Yun, through her intelligence and sincerity. Shen Haoming is caught between Fang Lei's manipulation and his life with Xu Yan, and the pressure causes him to break down. A secondary plotline involves Dr. Yu Yiming being publicly accused of an affair by a patient's fiancé.

Fang Lei's New Target
Fang Lei is really trying to make something happen. She first approaches the powerful businesswoman Jiang Yun. It does not go well. Jiang Yun sees right through her.
So, Fang Lei pivots. She goes after Jiang Yun's brother, Jiang Liang. He's known around town as a total playboy. She lays the charm on thick. She even whips out a special hangover cure for him. It’s a mix of ketchup and honey. Shen Haoming sees this and it hits him. That's the same unique drink Fang Lei used to make for him back when they were together.
Fang Lei pretends to be weak and helpless around Jiang Liang. She claims she's only doing all this to help Shen Haoming.
Xu Yan Plays It Smart
Then, Xu Yan arrives at the same party. Jiang Yun takes one look at her and sees a reflection of her younger self. Xu Yan explains that she doesn't want to just be a supportive wife. She wants to build something of her own and help her husband. Jiang Yun is seriously impressed.
Xu Yan also came prepared. She gives Jiang Yun a thoughtful gift. It's a collection of old photos of Jiang Yun from back in the day. Jiang Yun loves it. She immediately takes Xu Yan under her wing. She starts introducing her to important contacts and even agrees to do an interview with her. Just like that, Xu Yan is in.
Desperate Measures
The Bathroom Pity Party
Fang Lei is watching all of this happen. She is not happy to see Xu Yan succeeding. So, she decides to create a scene. She pretends to be incredibly drunk and sick. She runs to the bathroom, hoping Shen Haoming will come running to take care of her. She even "accidentally" leaves behind an old memento from their relationship for him to find.
Later, in her car, she admits to someone that she never stopped loving Shen Haoming. She says she loved him even when he was dating her sister.
A Birthday Goes Wrong
Shen Haoming had a whole romantic birthday celebration planned for Xu Yan. Everything was ready. But then he gets a call from Fang Lei. She tells him she found a child who looks a lot like her and implies it could be his. This is a huge accusation.
He immediately leaves and rushes over to Fang Lei, completely abandoning Xu Yan's birthday. When he gets there, Fang Lei pressures him to get back together with her. He refuses and tells her to leave him alone. She then grabs a bottle of pills. She threatens to kill herself so she can go be with her dead sister.
Shen Haoming misses all of Xu Yan's calls while this is happening. He finally gets home very late. Xu Yan is patient and kind. She assumes he just got held up with urgent work. She tells him she's happy and that this is a meaningful birthday for her. Shen Haoming has to pretend that everything is fine. He says he feels bad for making her wait and goes to the bathroom to wash up.
The second he's alone, he completely breaks down. He remembers his ex-girlfriend, Fang Lei's sister, and how she died in a diving accident. The pressure is too much, and he starts to cry.

The Accusation
There's also a bit of drama happening at the hospital. A man named Lin Tao shows up and causes a scene. He publicly accuses Dr. Yu Yiming of trying to seduce his fiancée.
Qiao Lin is there and sees the whole thing. She pulls Lin Tao aside. He claims his fiancée is having an "emotional affair" with the doctor. But he says he still wants to take her home and forgive her. He refuses any help from Yu Yiming, acting like a victim.
