Xu Yan's lies deepen as she tries to manage her real family's sudden appearance while keeping up the facade for Shen Haoming's family. A trip to her hometown reveals the deep bond with her grandmother and the painful past she's running from, but a new arrival threatens to derail her entire plan.

Qiao Lin Tries to Exit
The episode kicks off with Qiao Lin sending a text to Xu Yan.She says she's booking a flight and heading home, basically telling her sister she's on her own.Xu Yan reads the message and doesn't even flinch. She feels nothing.
Later, her fiancé, Shen Haoming, finally asks a question that's been bugging him. He wants to know why he's never heard about this cousin, Qiao Lin.Xu Yan, without missing a beat, lies. She says Qiao Lin is just a distant relative and they aren't close, so there was no reason to invite her to the wedding.Shen Haoming seems to buy it for now.
Dad Comes to Town
While this is happening, Qiao Lin is getting annoyed by texts from her brother telling her to come home. She has no idea that her dad is in a full-blown panic, trying to track down Xu Yan's address to find her.
Xu Yan is in a park with Shen Haoming, his mother Yu Lan, and the fake parents she hired for the wedding. She's so caught up in the moment that she doesn't see her real father approaching. She has a sudden, terrifying daydream where her dad shows up and blows her cover right in front of everyone.In her vision, he yells out her real name, Yu Lan gets furious, and her entire plan collapses.

The Fake Parents Bail
Snapping back to reality, Xu Yan knows she has to act fast. She quickly ushers Shen Haoming and his mother away. Just in time, too, because her real father and stepmother confront her. The actors she hired see trouble coming. They immediately claim they're from a matchmaking agency, tell Xu Yan to wire them the rest of their payment, and make a run for it.
Xu Yan and Qiao Lin Face the Truth
Her dad is furious. He can't believe his daughter is getting married without telling him.Xu Yan, however, is ice cold. She tells him her grandmother is her only real family.She seems to enjoy his anger and is relieved when he says he won't attend the wedding.She even gives him Qiao Lin's address just to get rid of them.
Later, Qiao Lin goes to see Xu Yan, hoping to convince her to let their parents come to the wedding.But before she can even talk to her, she overhears Xu Yan discussing the fact that she hired actors.Qiao Lin is shocked. She says she understands why Xu Yan wants a different life, but she thinks lying is wrong.Xu Yan's response is simple: for her, it's all or nothing. Qiao Lin promises she won't give up on trying to get through to her.
A Trip Home and a New Threat
A Visit to Grandma
The wedding planning continues. Shen Haoming mentions that his guest list is ready and asks why Xu Yan has only invited four people. He also says he’d like to meet her grandmother. Xu Yan lies again, saying her parents are abroad and that she'll arrange a meeting with her grandma soon.
Xu Yan then takes a trip to her hometown to see her grandmother.She tells her she's getting married next month. Her grandma is overjoyed and says she can't wait to meet Shen Haoming, which makes Xu Yan feel a little guilty.Xu Yan asks her grandma to make sure her parents don't cause any trouble. We learn that after her father refused to support her, it was her grandmother who paid for her education.This town holds complicated feelings for Xu Yan; it's a source of love but also a place she desperately wants to escape.
A Rival Appears?
Back with Shen Haoming, he puts a ring on her finger. Xu Yan feels bad for deceiving him, but she's determined to see her plan through. The episode ends as Shen Haoming's cousin arrives. He's very happy to see her. Xu Yan overhears their conversation and a look of worry crosses her face. She realizes her plan to marry into a wealthy family might have just hit a serious snag.
